Recently got into a car accident. It was a single car collision where I rammed my car at 15mph into a stone slab during the rain. Didn't see the slab due to poor weather and visibility. My rate went from about $117 a month to $210 a month with AAA and I want to see if there are better car insurance options out there. Is this a normal hike or should I consider switching? I have a clean driving record for nearly 2 decades of driving and have had AAA the entire time. I keep hearing AAA is the gold standard in California when it comes to emergency roadside coverage, towing, rentals, etc but this hike feels very high for me. My AAA renewal begins in late Feb, I want to see if there are better options before I can renew.
Always good to compare rates from time to time https://standardinsurance.net/ when I had insurance in the US, I found these guys to be very competitive in Texas
We use USAA, they are better than AAA. I have heard very good things about Wawanesa and would be worth looking at. FWIW, all the insurance companies suck. USAA is consistently rated the best but I have gotten into sh*t with them a couple of times. One time, I asked for arbitration or I would hire a lawyer and they backed off and gave me what I was asking for. No offense to anyone here but USAA hires ex military and when those guys get something in their head, it is really hard to get them to see their own errors. I ran into a couple of issues where weird things happened, too long to explain it here but they tried to railroad me and even said they did not want my pictures of the incidents. Well, they did not want them because they did not want me to be able to prove my case. Point is, they all suck but sometimes you just have to go out of your way to prove your case.
