Found this little mini documentary on Brandon Bass during the lockout a few years ago. Good insight on the type of player and person that is coming to LA.
Yeah I remember talking extensively about Hibbert and definitely touching on Williams in that thread. I also remember mentioning Bass in the list of available guys, but I didn't think we'd get him for the Room Exception. Nice add by Mitch.
So what about the posts where I mentioned Hibbert last week.....didn't see those? No I never did suggest Williams or Bass, but I was referring to Hibbert, who I mentioned multiple times as a Laker target....
"Brandon Bass is a great player," Smart added. "He does all the little things that you talk about in a leader. ... He leads not only with his voice, but he leads by example. He's the type of guy that's going to have a longer career in the league. I think he's going into his 11th season in the league. So that just speaks volumes of the type of person, the type of game he has." http://www.masslive.com/C Bags/index.ssf/2015/07/boston_celtics_notes_marcus_sm_7.html
Hell yeah. Continuing mentors for the young guys? I'd say so. Better than Boozer who, despite being a professional, was also quite silly at times with the guys.
Kobe will love having Bass around, his approach to his craft will instantly make Kobe a fan. Hope Black, Randle, and Upshaw stay within 3 feet of him at all times during training camp. He can really help put them on the right track with the way they should prepare themselves. Maybe he can teach Hibbert some proper technique in the weight room, too.
I think I'm going to try standing close to Bass and Hibbert. Maybe I will learn a thing or two about growing another foot.
I was messing around. You expressed doubt about a Hibbert rumor on Thursday and asked whether we could get him on Friday. I guess that's ealrier than some were talking about him...
Got ya. In general we're in a good place if the fan base is debating who predicted/suggested the great moves our FO is making. I'll take it.
I'm a bit surprised that Bass is the first domino. It seemed like his contract was going to be the tricky one to fit out of him, Hibbert, and Lou.
I think he gets the Room Exception regardless of our other dominoes. As long as we hit the cap his contract fits fine.
