I like Bass. I'd like if he stuck around as our undersized 5 especially if Tarik is aced out. I don't know what kind of contract he's looking for this summer though.
I think keeping Bass would be great. This guy is a good pro. He's a solid player, not a fantastic one, but a solid player, but more than that, I think he's the kind of guy that is just good to have around. A good example for the young players and a good mentor. If we can get him back, I'd welcome him.
If this FO has any credibility for building a winning roster they ought to be doing this below with a reasonable raise. You have to spend it for value whoever you bring in. He's worth it. He's a stud and a great Pro to be around for all the young guys. Kobe like dedication mentally. Champagne story was cool because it said and his words say he really did like us and wasn't down about the Kobe FWT. He did start playing much better last half of season. Right there with Tarik for small center competition.
You should check out his exit interview here. He seems open to returning, but also very much looking at his other options as well.
Eeeeesh ..... at start and other times he doesn't burst out with the vibe of wanting to be back. But it's long and haven't got time now to hear all. I did like the printed excerpts from a bit later on. But early on he says something about finding out what they thought of him and kinda said, "that's cool" like it wasn't. If we lose him they damn well better keep Black here. But then how he was treated and marginalized most of the season by Boron the a-hole .... wouldn't be shocked if Scott being our coach costs us both of them. Uggghh.
To be fair to Bass and others I haven't gotten around to watching exit interviews yet as I'll do that this weekend, so that's good to hear. THis is exactly why I always prefer to see video instead of reading quotes. Context and tone mean a lot.
Yeah that's why I watched them all. For instance, Hibbert and Nick sounded very down about their future here. Lou, Clarkson, and to a lesser extent Bass and Huertas seemed pretty optimistic about their future. Randle felt like he really didn't want to be there.
Please come back. We were a whole lot better with him at the 5. Long shot though considering we probably have to field a playoff ready team to convince him to come back to the Boron experiment.
I also watched them all. Bass had a very telling interview. From the start, I always liked Bass but based on his comments and tone when he signed with us, I felt like he saw us as an opportunity. We were a terrible team, so he could come here and showcase his talents to leverage for a new contract. Not that it's a bad thing, but he seemed to have a very level-headed business approach to the signing as opposed to passion for the purple and gold. His exit interview had a slightly different tone. He seemed legitimately taken aback by the magic that he witnessed in Kobe's last game. It might not be enough to get him to stay, but just in general, I think that 4/13/16 did a lot of good for the perception of the Lakers franchise.
I do too actually. Mitch mentioned it in his interview and I actually agree with him. I think the guys on our team got to kind of see the magic that playing for the Lakers can bring. They saw how great we fans are when you give us something different. They saw how much a player here can mean when they're doing something historic. I mean on the court, there'll never be a finish as magical as that. Off the court, Kobe showed how he and the Lakers topped the news whenever they wanted to. On the same night the Warriors broke the record, no one was talking about them. THAT is the magic of being the greatest and doing it in LA.
