Golovkin vs Alvarez II Saturday night. Maybe we get some competent judges this time? Maybe Canelo off that damn Mexican meat won't have the physical edge he wanted? Maybe Triple G a year older opens the door for him though? Maybe it won't be so expensive for PPV this time?
Come on Boxing fans .... where the heck are you? This is a big fight. I just paid $85. Anyone remember Lee Hacksaw Hamilton on sports radio? "REACT TO ME" !! http://www.leehacksawhamilton.com LOL never listened to him but used to laugh a lot listening to Jim Rome back in the day when I could .....mocking him saying that. I know a lot of people don't like Rome but I was fortunate to have been able to listen to him in the mornings and John and Ken on KFI in the afternoons for over 20 years in my office on AM radio while I was with WBR in the music industry going about my days. Timely shows and topics but absolutely brilliant at times off the cuff humor. IMO.
My interest in this fight is oddly very low. Way higher than the stupid Mayweather/Pacquiao fight though. What a waste of time.
Well color me PISSED they only had 3 pre-lims scheduled which all ended early with no contingency to fill the time if that happened. 1 hour and 20 minutes they have to fill instead "talking" about the main event now.
I had Golovkin winning this one with his furious closing of the latter rounds but his lackluster effort through the early part of the fight did him in through the judges eyes. Alvarez' jaw is titanium.
Yeah but I pretty much agreed with Lederman's scoring of the rounds except one late .... 10 or 11 that he gave to Alvarez. Even then he had GGG winning the fight. Though his face after the last 2 or 3 rounds wound up looking worse considerably than Canelo's in spite of the latter's winning the nastiest cut award. Canelo was out pointed but landed more power shots and was the oaggressor moving forward more often throughout. Close fight and a good fight although no one ever in serious trouble or knocked down. I was surprised at the end with the decision but can also see it the other way. Plus .... 36 years old fighter against 28 years in prime.
I had Canelo winning because of his early pressure and his game finish, but I don't begrudge anyone who says GGG won. I get GGG is upset, but this fight was far closer than the first. GGG really got robbed in the 1st fight, not this one.
There will likely be a third installment of this rivalry... Alvarez took Golovkin's best shots and kept on coming. He was staggered a bit in one of the later rounds but not enough to make him fall back.
What should have happened was one of Boxing's great trilogies. 1st fight rightfully won by Golovkin but so good that it warranted last night's fight. Then the rubber match. But the first judges blew that all to hell. Next fight in my opinion would not be this close and another Alvarez win. GGG up against father time now and Canelo in his prime and can likely get better still.

Mayweather is now talking about coming out of retirement for Pacman, Khabib, and McGregor Just go away already
I'd watch if he did MMA, but that's it. Ok, I might stream it for free lol. But only in the hopes of seeing his arse kicked in. Pac has stayed in shape, and might have a shot. McGregor would have a different game plan, and being third on the list and Mayweather's age, I don't see that happening. Khabib isn't a striker, so Mayweather could handle him pretty easily if he can keep him off him. Khabib's only chance would be to overwhelm him with activity for 10 rounds and catch him when he tires of playing defense. That would be a super boring defensive fight. I'd almost put money on him not coming back. But I'm sure 100 million is tempting for anyone.
I should have made it clear: I'm never paying for another Mayweather fight. I'll watch it for free though on the off chance he finally gets what's coming to him.
