MVP: Stephen Curry DPOY: Deandre Jordan ROY: Andrew Wiggins MIP: Jimmy Butler 6th MAN: Jamal Crawford COY: Mike Budenholzer
MVP: Stephen Curry DPOY: Draymond Green I'd like to give it to Rudy Gobert, but I think the lack of minutes hurts his case. ROY: Andrew Wiggins I think Mirotic has been better on a per-minute basis though. MIP: Hassan Whiteside Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, and Jimmy Butler all have great cases as well. 6th Man: Nikola Mirotic COY: Byron Scott lol jk. Mike Budenholzer
MVP: If OKC makes the playoffs for me it's Westbrook. If they miss it, then it's Curry no question. DPOY: Jordan is most likely going to win it. ROY: Wiggins. MIP: Whitside definitely 6th Man: Probably Crawford COY: Budenholzer for sure.
I hope DeAndre Jordan doesn't win dpoty. First, I would enjoy Doc Rivers throwing a fit about it. He already cried about an article on DeAndre's defense. Second, while I think DeAndre's a good defensive player, it doesn't seem right to give it to him when his team's defensive rating actually improves with him off the court. In addition to that, Clippers are a league-average defensive team.
MVP: curry. we've been over this. this award is sort of silly, but by implied parameters, it's his running away. DPOY: noah. he's allowed the bulls to play gasol and not get destroyed. that's not thibs, imo. ROY: wiggins, though mirotic has impressed me. MIP: tough one. if i had to make a totally weird choice, it would be demarre carroll, who i thought would be out of the league by now. I'm going to go with middleton, though. 6th MAN: i'll go with Crawford because he's the only high profile bench player I can think of. mirotic was another good choice here. in fact--I change my vote. mirotic. COY: i'll go with the chalk on bud. of course, this means he'll be fired within two years when they can't replicate this success. coy is another odd award.
It really is an odd award because it's rewarded the coach of a team which exceeded pre season predictions for others reasons a lot more than the impact of coaching on a team success ... more often than not Scott Brown Brooks Three bottom 5-10 coaches "elected" in a row . Bud is a good coach though.
MVP: Curry, come on, who else should it be? DPOY: Draymond Green, I hate DJ's stupid face ROY: Wiggins MIP: Monster Whiteside 6th MAN: whoever is the 6th man of Atlanta COY: crazy genius Budenholzer, just amazing
Anthony Davis deserves strong consideration for the MVP race, although Curry will win it. He single handed carried that Pelican's team to the playoffs. If you take Curry off that Golden State team, they probably still make the playoffs with the talent they have. You take Anthony Davis off the Pelicans, they're probably worse than the Lakers.
MVP - Stephen Curry DPOY - Andrew Bogut - He doesn't have the stats. But his impact on the Warriors defense is huge. ROY - Andrew Wiggins - He didn't get hurt and he got the minutes. 6th Man - Jamal Crawford - Still getting it done. And still clutch. MIP - Hassan Whiteside - D-League to starting caliber center. No brainer. COY - Monty Williams - Coaching an injury-riddled Pelican team to the playoffs in the West is a minor miracle.
Nitpicking but shouldn't a player be in the league during the previous season to be named MIP ? Whiteside improved from "nothing" ... He's basically a rookie ...
Whiteside played 18 games for Sactown in 2011-2012. Then he was out of the league for 2 years before coming to Miami this season. If that's not an improvement, then I don't know what is.
