    Wah, wah, wah.
    Keep crying you mental midget.
I would trade AR n a second if it would improve the team.
    Keep crashing out- it’s entertaining.

say what you want about Reddit, but the fact is 95% of the most upvoted comments there are people disappointed with this contract and what it can do to the franchise.

I don't like the one-liner nature of it, but as seen by the previous page, there's plenty of trolls on this forum as well, and people that are not really serious about the Lakers winning

I’m not particularly enamored about the new AR deal, but it’s not my money at the end of the day. I think I’d feel better if we had the requisite pieces around AR and Luka (One paint anchor and two 3&D pit bulls) but we currently don’t.

I'm fine with you trolling, but are insults really necessary?

He's funny. I just put him on ignore. I'm sure he did the same weeks ago.

It's cool debating Reaves without getting personal. I've done the same, too.

Trying to be a better poster than that.

Less chiefs more Indians. Luka and Reaves can be a solid nucleus moving forward

Well we here apologize that we didn't get the #1 pick here, that we couldn't trade for Giannis, that we probably never would have gotten a trade done for Anthony, that Luka isn't living up to your expectations, that LeBron is old, that we don't have a time machine to go get Prime Kobe back, and that we decided to trust in a guy for 4/185.

Maybe next year this fanbase will show more care in the Lakers winning it all.

Yeah, we overpaid for Reaves, but who would we have signed with his money that was readily available? I don't think letting him walk for nothing is going to help build a contender. At worst, he's an asset we can trade later.

I'm curious to see what Rob and Co's master plan is to build around Luka.

not sure if anyone has said it yet, but the nets could have offered a max still. the randle/claxton swap is legal over the cap, so they could have just timed that trade to after when they signed reaves. and yes, detroit was trying to drink our milkshake, too. this was an easy call. there was no hardball to be played. the 4 million dollar difference per year on the contract isn't what's going to be difference in tradeability, nor likely to impact other moves going forward.

did we have to exceed 178? no. should we have? i think so, tbh.

the situation is rare because he's a UFA. normally, players of his caliber are operating on extensions, either of rookie contracts or previous larger deals. he was a legitimate flight risk.

i'm glad it isn't hanging over our heads going into FA, and we can make other plans knowing we have the two big pieces in place.

I’m not trying to be a downer. But we signed him for the most he could get over a 4 year period. We offered him his max salary and the max raises every year.

We also gave him a player option in year 4, which he probabaly uses and then signs for 60-75m per year in years 4 and 5. So this isn’t any sort of discount, this is the most he can get in every way. The only thing is we didn’t give him 5 years guaranteed, we have him 4… the reason for that is, his agent pushed for an opt out after 3 years most likely - so in other words this was their decision.

When I said this, which I still stand by, it's on the grounds that we could have given him the 5 year MAX. So doing the 4 year (yes MAX) and having a little more than other teams can sign, seems like a win.

At the end of the day, I agree with everyone that $35 to $38 a year would have been ideal, but I think we went safe, per Luka and LeBron's request, and we're here now.

THEN, we have no idea if he will find a way to be lights out on a nightly basis and thus this contract becomes moot as he becomes an All-NBA and All-Star starting next year OR....he doesn't and we eat our words now. Either is fine.

I just know that for those who are upset, we are upset about an UNKNOWN that either gets fixed this coming season, or becomes a problem to fix in a season or two AND yeah, with a pick or two, but depending on our status, it could be okay to deal with...or it could suck for us.

    We'll wait and see.

I mean we traded away the picks for Davis and even Nash and the balls bounced so that it still helped us till we have to convey them in a new way.....maybe it happens again? I still think we need to see how the rest of this off-season goes, and then we need to see what Mark Walter does when he really controls the team, which HAS TO BE SOON.

So, things will be fine. That was where I was trying to keep the optimism. Not that this isn't A LOT. It is a lot, but we had to keep Luka happy and entice LeBron to stay....this is how that happens.
