duncan/parker/ginobili and bron/wade/bosh makes sense for this Looking back at the Dlo trade is interesting - sure DFS shored up the defense but clearly getting rid of the only other traditional PG seemed to have unlocked AR on offense. Weird to think on a team with Lebron and now Luka and Lebron, he fits in just fine but it was getting rid of the other ballhandler and giving the keys to the car to AR has worked out really well.
When you know you know. KD can't wait for his next stop. Also, how is that not a flagrant?! Zero landing space. Such a bull s*** review. Awesome Austin game. Calf is fine, I think. Crafty
Reaves is starting to get credit for being a very good "All-Star"like player but what doesn't get mentioned is how Reaves doesn't miss many games. Last season, he played every game. This season, he's churning out big minutes and has been mostly healthy the entire season. Against the Bucks, 36 minutes with a strong performance. Faces the Nuggets the day after playing 40 minutes with another strong performance. Not the most athletic or strongest but seems to still find a way to take contact, hard falls, and gets back up no problem. He has the farm boy strength. Also, since when did he become so good at FT's? 92% from the FT line taking 7 FTA the past 20 games!
LOL. I think at this point there is no conversation to be had. AR is an all-star level player, possibly even as high as #2 on a contender, that went undrafted and we got for peanuts. Dude's gonna get paaaaaaaaid. Hopefully by us. I can live with AR, Luka + another star post Bron.
Don’t sleep on Knecht. Are you watching him starting to handle the ball more confidently with some of that Luka and AR flair? Mid range, athletic dunks …. gorgeous stroke from 3 and going to be strong as hell.
I like that we have other guys like Reaves and Knecht who can score 30 any given night when either Luka or Bron are not around
there are worlds in which luka, AR, and a bunch of defenders who can hit open threes is a contender, imo.
Reaves is already better than Parsons ever was. What is that take? This kid averages something like 20/5/6 and over a steal per game. Those are borderline all-star numbers. Herro made the ASG (albeit in the East) with 4 ppg more and everything else being too close to call.
I love having the best underrated player in the League! I don’t think he will get an All Star nod until LeBron retires, but I don’t care much about those “awards.”
To answer the thread question, yes I'd trade Reaves and include Knecht for Mark Williams (rolls eyes). Seriously, Reaves is a keeper. For a pick, he's a Dave Kingman home run.
Don’t look now but he’s also left Murray on Denver and Booker in the rear view mirror after one of his blow bys as “complete” star quality basketball players. How many fingers are needed to count the sheer number of technical skills at which he is elite? Way MOAR than most in the league.
We won't have to worry about it for at least another year, but Reaves is going to demand a max contract (or very close to it) on the open market. The timing of Lebron's retirement is going to be interesting as we hope to build a contender with Luka/Reaves as our core.
yeah, if lebron doesn't retire after next year, roster building will become trickier. if he does (as i'm expecting), it will be pretty easy, as our books will be very clear the year reaves has his opt out. his cap hold will only be about 25-27 million, so that would be a chance to use what's left of our space that year, which projects to be ample, as only reaves/vando/knecht/luka are on the books. we could have 60 million to spend in FA, or more likely, we'll extend our favorites of the current group and be able to add an impact role player of the jrue holiday/derrick white variety.
We are quite fortunate to have a high level all-star player like Reaves that is willing to take on whatever roll is needed to make the team better and not bit*h about it. We have a trio that is going to be very difficult to defend in the playoffs. Jax coming into his own in such a way and our defense. In my mind, I still see us as the favorite.
