Not just AR. Melo and Stan also have birthdays today. I imagine that's quite rare that 3 players on the same team all share the same b-day.
So much THIS!! We are so thin for talent and youth down our bench that we need everyone getting stronger and better this summer. All summer long. AR has nothing to prove in that regard. Handy has predicted a special player in him just seeing and working with him one season. Cannot risk him getting injured with the all out play of everyone in SL trying to gain spots and playing time on NBA rosters. Entirely too dangerous. His talent is in big part playing with "skilled" players. Much like Caruso. Look how unimpressive he was in last summer league. Don't f*** this up FO. The danger far outweighs any positives to be gained.
Every young player needs PT to improve and get stronger. He’s young enough that I don’t see an issue. He also gets to develop leadership skills and inject lessons he’s learned into his game.
No! In best OX voice. S*** happens injuries are what concerns me. The twisted ankle, someone falling or diving into planted knee, broken wrist or anything else. Look how long it was before Lonzo ever got a healthy off season to try to get stronger and better. Plus if he picks up a s*** happens injury then we have to listen to the injury prone chants from all the iron men here since he missed some time this past season to a hammy or whatever.
Can’t live life scared. These guys are athletes. This is what they do. Now in the regular season if there’s a blowout, you sit them for the fourth quarter, but that’s about it for me.
It makes no sense as short on young talent as we are and him needing to stay healthy enough to work on his upper and lower body and come in stronger with even more polished skills and shooting. Doesn’t need the summer league for that and it’s a risk. Mr Macho. LOL.
i'm confused as to how not playing in summer league means you're scared. reaves has nothing to gain by playing in summer league, so he shouldn't. malik monk also shouldn't play in summer league.
I think it could be good to build confidence. He would be the leader of the team, so it would be nice to go through that pressure, being more vocal and consolidate his bucket-getter skills to complement his game. I don't think he's near his final form as an NBA player, and such experience could be helpful to foster growth on his game
I have AR as a projected starter as well. Shooting guard that can also play point. Being a high IQ guy is a big part of his game. Versatile and plays defense. He doesn't lack confidence. Skip summer league and just work on your game. Three point shooting and build strength.
the only thing i can see being helpful is if he tries to do nothing but shoot threes for practice. he's proven everything else at the top level, imo. even then, i'm just not sure what he could gain. but mostly this. weights and reps on the long ball.
Reaves and Monk don’t need the summer league. They need to stay healthy and Reaves needs to get stronger in the upper body and work on those threes as stated. He already knows how to ball at a high level. Same with Monk.
He made more than 10 shots in only 6 games last year. And we lacked scoring in a lot of games and were hurt. I think it would help if he got confident to do what he did back in college. It will be a 6 months offseason, sure it wouldn't hurt a 2 week summer league
i mean, why doesn't everyone play summer league then? the truth is that once you've proven you can play with the top competition, there's basically no benefit to the summer league. it's a place to gain confidence and level up, as you indicate. he's already got that. scoring 30 against a bunch of guys who you'll never see again doesn't help build the habits he needs, imo.
I'm not saying he NEEDS to play. It just wouldn't shock me. I'm also not strongly against it, nor I'm rooting for it. There's positive things to extract if it were to happen, that's all. He's still very young and actually shown rookie struggles, in regards to consistency (where confidence plays a part) for example. So I don't agree with the takes here strongly against it Nowadays all talks are polarized.
I think Austin is going to make a step up next season. He has to keep working on that jumper. He seems hungry to me, he makes trading Tucker for the right piece ok.
he's so weak he's so soft playing in the Summer League with a bunch of guys desperate to make it to the big leagues will keep him hungry and working he should work on his abs he should get a tan I'm questions hygiene right now too it's the offseason, sorry
