but he sort of didn't, right? we got his agent to scare teams off him in the second round so that we could sign him.

i'll agree he should have been a 1st rounder, but i bet some teams who would have likely picked him up in the 30s are grumbling right now.

This is so wild. You can see Russ calling for the ball and then just staring at Reaves as he knocks the shot down.

both him and ayayi. i think that's part of why we waited so long to cut ayayi loose despite him being outplayed by basically all of our summer league wings--probably doing him a solid by not cutting him early so he retained value. and i bet we didn't waive him until we knew someone was going to pick him up.

I keep watching Reaves listed at 6’5” and thinking he always looks a bit bigger than that. Well actually he is …. listed on multiple sites as 6’5.75” so he’s really almost 6’6”.

He is taller and has a bigger frame than Caruso. Just not Caruso body, yet. He has good size to defend on the perimeter, for sure.

I can see the league frowning about the Reaves/Ayayi dropping out of the draft situation in the future. It’s like we got 2 more second round picks free. No way other teams allow that to happen again without complaining.

May be this is why we let AC go. The town just isn't big enough for the two of them.

yeah, i said that when it happened, but it's hard to police. teams could have just drafted him anyway if they were really sold on him, but it does create some issues with team/agent relations to draft a guy against his will.

my guess is they won't do much about it because the 2nd round is such a crapshoot. i mean, it's possible we saved teams from burning a 2nd on ayayi, for example.

anyway, great use of a loophole/gray area by our scrambling management team.

:D …. funny but what fun it would have been to just “yolo” our quota and have had both in there defending and making winning plays going forward along with THT. Then get Snake’s intermediary to offer Monk a house or something to stay starting with Nun’s contract next year when he opts out. ;) No sweat Jeanie …. You have the record uni patch with Bibigo.

What I loved most about that play where he pump faked into the midrange J, aside from the composure he demonstrated … is that I think initially he was seriously contemplating hoisting up that three pointer. And in the moment, I wanted him to. His jumper is legitimately smooth!

Think he had a few misses that should’ve been called fouls IMO.

This kid is legit. Good shooter, great ball handling, not afraid of the moment. No reason to treat him like a rookie, so far he deserves to be in the rotation.

Sure, he IS a rookie, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to hit some slumps. But at least for now, all indications are that he is a baller.

Thought it was his most rookie game, there was more bad than usual, but still a lot of good to pick from. D, effort, step in 2, corner 3, short memory on his mistakes.

I'm really surprised some of these "process" teams who hoard picks, currently OKC, don't try to steal away members of our scouting department. With where we have been selecting, no team has come close to our level of success. Maybe the Spurs internationally, they've had their finger on the pulse overseas since TP and Manu.

With respect to Caruso, I think they are different players and I’m starting to think Reaves has a more complete game. Caruso plays at a high pace and uses his athleticism. Reaves has more speeds and he’s more composed to me. His jumper and handle might be better than Alex’s too.
