He's not going anywhere and the rate won't matter. He can take his time. Get wined and dined. Enjoy the process.

Rui on the other hand, need that number at 6:01 EST tomorrow evening.

...because sports journalism is a competitive field. The biggest and boldest jacka** gets the attention. Saw this and that was my reaction to it.

    I'm kinda nervous/excited for today.

Btw, just remembered that since Pelinka is here, the only trade/FA that happened after being reported was AD, for obvious reasons. All the others were always surprises.

Soooo...Brown ain't happening by that token

It's all speculation and name dropping. Believe it when you see it.

Post deleted for being an assumption when Vincent signed that DLO was going to be gone. And having the opinion that Reaves and Gabe (with a full camp together) we’re going to look even better together with both sides of the ball performance and their chemistry …. than DLO and Reaves did same criteria but only having had about 2 months and the playoffs together, with Russell missing 3-4 weeks of that time additionally. Now with a full camp maybe DLO and Austin get even better together. But still am really thinking Gabe and Austin are going to be great together when they’re both on the floor.

This may be the best bang for your buck contract in the league!

I’m so glad we pulled this off, but man I almost feel bad for Austin lol

3 years from now as the cap raises and other players continue to get more and more inflated deals, he’s going to look significantly underpaid in comparison

Can’t wait to finally buy a Reaves jersey now!

Absolutely makes sense to use whatever mechanism possible to give that deal the best structure for Reaves, and it’s still an INCREDIBLE deal for us

I think I’m actually more happy about the inclusion of the trade kicker because it makes it less likely we ever trade him

Damn, what a steal. I do feel bad that no team gave him a bigger offer, all that "we'll match anything and everything" scared them some.

Win on all 3 sides for this deal. Austin gets paid, and some autonomy on if he wants to stay with the Lakers if the franchise is going in the wrong direction. The team gets a hell of a friendly price for Austin’s production. And the fans get a little insurance Austin won’t be traded because of the trade kicker.

Rob played this deal masterfully. Can we get this guy his flowers now?

Hell yeah, so much for all the “Lakers won’t be able to keep him, some team will offer him 100 mil” stuff. Fantastic, he gets paid and it’s a fair deal.

This isn’t a fair deal, Reaves is probably worth around 25m per for 4 seasons. And we’ve got him locked up for 3, it’s deals like these that give a team the opportunity to win a championship because the value provided compared to the salary slot is so much in our favour.
