You were saying?????? Was dumb to play them. Never going to win that game, esp after an OT and the Clips resting for days.

How about an Andrew Toney 76ers old school days comparison. Both can be crafty with the ball, hit an off balance shot. They are both hard nose players, willing to set a screen if have too. They can play the 1 and 2, setting up their own shot or passing the rock to set someone up.

    Max is going to
Handy last year said he was going to be “special”. Hope he likes Max a lot too to make it 3 for 3 with Hachimura whom he’s also given some nice praise.

I am going through a thought experiment. What do you think Austin Reaves is worth, salary wise, on his next contract where Austin gets fair market value to his skill set?

I think he might actually be a $18-20 million/season type player if he can keep his consistency up. Examples of players able to keep their consistency up and paid in that range include Marcus Smart, Boban Bogdanovic, Jerami Grant

The risk is sometimes a players level of play drops after they get paid, and they quickly become overpaid and frustrating to their fan base because of the lack of consistency. Examples of this, in that $18-20 million range include Duncan Robinson, Joe Harris, Lu Dort.

I do think Austin is the type that can stay consistent with his production on this laker team. However I can also see a scenario that he goes to a bad team for $24 mil a season, is expected to be one of their key guys, but the losing actually devalues the perception of his worth as a player. Imagine Reaves on the Rockets or Pistons at $24 mil/season in such a scenario.

So I’m just curious, what does everyone think is fair market value for Reaves to stay with the Lakers, and do you think he would be willing to accept slightly less than a big offer from a rebuilding team In a small market?

Fair market value is somewhere around $11-18m per for his production. He is a 15/4/4 level player on a good team with efficient scoring numbers. He is basically a great 4th option or 6th man.

I’m not sure anyone is looking at Austin and thinking he is a first, second or even third option. Part of that is the fact he just isn’t a flashy athletic player, but a cerebral glue guy that fills the gaps.

I'm not sure about options but I will take Austin as our third most important player.

Decent company. Just don't expect to be paid like those guys. Please.

Regarding Austin’s athleticism I’ m going to make a post shortly about part of it that is NOT related to his seeming lack of fast twitch muscle makeup from the genetic lottery but is (to me) jaw dropping in another area of it, with visual backup for reference from a play he made last night.
