Eh, her reaction sounds a little hysterical, but I’m not going to hold anything against her or judge her character for it. Uprooting your entire life and moving across the country away from all your friends/family isn’t an easy ask If I got a job offer tripling my salary but I had to move to the East coast after spending all my life in SoCal, I’d feel obligated to take the job but I’d probably be miserable at least in the short term. It would be nothing against the East coast or that job, I’m just very comfortable where I’m currently at and being close to my circle of friends/family
This is pretty unhinged. (If the context isn’t clear here, Hurley was talking about how he had already privately decided to stay, but when first meeting with his players to announce his decision he purposely kept them in the dark to demand more commitment from them) Referring to players that age being “dumber” than NBA players and feeling the need to resort to such weird mind games, then yapping about it to the media… yeah maybe this guy isn’t cut out for the NBA yet and we dodged a bullet?
I mean, we all know it’s bad, but I’m more shocked that we have people who are allowed to be a voice like that. Nothing has worked since Phil……there might be a reason………
Sat back, read twitter, read the forums, and I really just tried to stay away from all of this for awhile. Nevertheless, I'm disappointed in this management/executive/ownership group out of the Lakers with respect to Hurley. Irrespective, if Hurley/Woj was using us for leverage, you have to do better with that offer they presented; that's a joke. Top 6 paid most coach in the NBA where he literally has to uproot his family and move them across country? No, you make him the highest paid coach in the league and you really give him something to consider, and if it doesn't work out in 3-4 years, discuss a buyout option w/him and go your merry ways. This just happens over and over w/Jeanie and money. If you can't afford that amount of money, then sell the team to somebody who can - you can't blame the luxury tax (like they did with Caruso). This whole thing just pisses me off. Now? We'll end up with Reddick, and who knows who for a staff. I'm just not happy with the direction of this franchise right now. My sentiment may change depending on what happens during the summer, but right now? I'm just not feeling it.
Best paid coach in the league with 0 days in the NBA? That's crazy, no one would agree with that, not a single fan. He would be eaten alive. Media would be all over it. He would have to win the title every year and we don't have a team for that. You pay that money to build a dinasty, if you have Jokic, Luka, SGA or wtv and you want the best possible HC to lead it to the promised land. Not when LeBron is about to retire, AD's health is not a guarantee and the odds for us to be relevant in the next 3 to 6 years aren't that great, while paying an insane amount of money to a HC. We're just feeling bad because he refused but it's impossible people would agree with him making more money than anyone with 0 reason for it. C'mon
How much was Coach K offered? Yes, I would. If it doesn't work, discuss a buyout. You don't have somebody come in with that pedigree to offer him $10 million more where CA taxes are going to eat him up. You just don't do that. Or better yet, just don't have the interview. I'm not excepting anything less and I'm probably not going to bother with anybody else who disagrees because I'm over it. I've moved on. Lakers Exceptionalism. Pay the f******* guy. This low-balling **** needs to stop.
C Bags tanked the game because they want to make sure there is as little time as possible between us hiring our coach and the draft!
and this is exactly why college coaches have almost always failed in the NBA you go from dictator to absolutely powerless
But this is beyond that. Why would you share this s***? To show how Machiavellian you are? It's just dumb. Like, Pimple dumb. I now have a new semi-serious theory. The FO learned something that basically made it impossible for them to hire Hurley. Perhaps something similar to the above quote... They then had to save face... so they made an offer he couldn't accept.
