Thinking we could turn this into the "The Official Head Coaching thread?" or should we retire this and just make a new thread for that?

So another time the Lakers FO/ownership were too cheap to pay a long term contract huh?

I get why we didn't go for Kyrie given how volatile he is, but don't say that being cheap with the contract was the main obstacle...

Perhaps its the FO out there putting these leaks to make sure they don't get the blame.

They should get all the blame
Reaves and Christie was never a price too high, for a talent like Kyrie Irving.

doesn't mean you can't poach if you're offering something better.

It's not. That's Sean Sweeney. He's interviewed for a couple HC jobs but mostly doesn't get past the initial list (including here in LA).

I don't think Rondo and Redick would be a good match. Rajan has closer ties to Lebron and AD. That pairing could go left terribly, if things got off to a rocky start.

Okay, so the prospect is JJ with Dudley and Rondo on his staff? Plus Brooks and Cassell?

I feel like that could be good. I’d still hope for Handy to come back too? But like, whatever.

I still don’t know if I like giving JJ his first shot with us, but whatever. Maybe what’s his face from New Orleans or the other other guy we were linked to in Denver will make a change.

Oh yeah, Rick Aldeman(?)’s son…man……add him to this staff too either as HC or as an Assistant.

I would be all in on JJ with Dudley and Rondo, despite my reservations on JJ.

There’s a lot of conditions for me to be ok with JJ Reddick being a head coach, and that’s to have very good assistant coaches around him.

Ideally that would be to get both Chris Quinn or James Borrego but I don’t know if either of those coaches leaves their current positions unless it’s for a head coaching gig

he'll land another AC gig, but he's never going to sniff another serious HC position

Cassell makes some sense, it seems like he's been pigeonholed as Doc's guy and might need to prove himself elsewhere to start getting more consideration as a head coach. Ideally we'd have someone on the bench next to Reddick that has previous head coaching experience, but there aren't a lot of previous head coaches willing to be an assistant to a rookie head coach. I bet they're trying to sell Borrego on doing it, with the unstated implication being that he becomes the interim if JJ is terrible.

Vogel was a better coach. Ham was really a terrible tactician. Ham is not good enough to be a HC. But apparently he’s a solid assistant.

The 4 people that fired him didn't think he was that good, including us. I'm still trying to comprehend how Ham was supposed h a bad tactian, but got to the Conference Finals in his 1st year on the bench. Everyone saw certain people flat out choking that year in the playoffs, and this one too. However Ham is supposedly terrible and Vogel is a good coach?

Doesn't make any sense to me. Especially considering how most folks, think our roster was weak, in the first place.

Honestly..I'm still curious as to how JJ became the preferred target, without Rob talking about that at all, with Lebron and AD first.?
