I have no doubt that Riley believes he has better hair than JJ. Probably finds that to be the most offensive part of the comparison.

I'm sure they're fine keeping him. "Want" might be strong based on the earlier reports this season. But with a bare market, they're not going to let him go anywhere. I'm guessing it's over number of years once again (poor Lue). Ballmer probably wants something closer to the timeline of his "stars" who are one more injury or one more trip to the strip club away from retirement. Lue probably wants the 5-6 years that are being handed out for a total of $60m-$70m.

More importantly he doesn't want him coming to us or it looking like he lost him to us. Letting Lue out of his deal and us (as unlikely as it is) hoisting a trophy next June is not something you can allow.

It's a leverage seesaw right now. Lue has some power now and they need him. As soon as we hire someone, that disappears and he needs them. Sure he could hit the market but no other jobs are open, no good ones seem to be coming up soon especially big market contender gigs. Does he want to take JJ's ESPN job for a year?

Bleep off with that. Read the reasons I posted right above here on the similarities and tell me which and why I am wrong.

FO is working OT to shove Redick in our faces by comparing him to a legend . And making it look like it’s a smart choice

    Go BLEEP yourself JJ

Weak sauce. Go to the last page and quote ANY of those points I made for the similarity and tell me why there is NO similarity. Contingent on IF that's what LeBron really sees in his basketball heart of hearts in JJ's potential (with the obligatory strong staff). Disavowed or not. Of course we don't believe him that he's not having input.

This is one of the most incompetent hires ever. A total Hail Mary move. If it works no doubt the FO will be seen as visionary geniuses, but the probability is extremely low.

whatever, I hope they trade all our assets for Trae next, so I can tune out of watching the sport.

A potential JJ Redick hire has me concerned as well. He has no experience on any level of coaching and he would come to the Lakers, which is a coaching meat grinder. I don't know all of the potential names, and it's hard to know what makes an assistant qualified to be a HC but the our front office hasn't inspired confidence in me that they will get this right.

    Hopefully they'll nail this one.

Wait. Everyone, particularly the younger guys, knows that Riley was originally an assistant right?

He wasn’t in that spot for long because of Magic but he was an assistant coach.

It’s not a Hail Mary move . Hail Mary for what ? This roster ain’t doing much next yr and after that, so FO couldn’t care less how JJ will performs a HC.

Another questionable take. We weren’t THAT far off this year if we can smartly address needs including a BIG.

Yeah you like to to whine and moan and be negative on most things Lakers goings on wise, on top of “hating” on LeBron.

And you still defend LeBron like he just came out of HS . It’s over, LeBron has been squeezed every ring possible out of him . You looking forward to another play In exit ( and thinking it will be a winning season ) is kinda make you a minimalist who sets the bars way low

considering they've struck out on every coaching hire since phil with the exception of vogel, i don't have much confidence in this FO to hire a decent coach this time around either. the fact that they're even considering hiring another rookie HC after the disaster that was ham says it all

Maybe it wasn't the coaching, and the teams just sucked.
