No to Casey.Reddick don't need this coach carousel that goes forever.
Maybe Borrego agreed to be an assistant,he just refused to go to Detroit
    BTW Casey is 67 .

i think casey being 67 is part of our interest. a new HC doesn't want a guy who's angling to get back in. i think casey's not interested in going back to the big chair. but he's got a ton of experience there and as an assistant. i like it in theory. i have no idea about whether casey will add much strategically or charismatically.

    still need handy back, imo.

Update on the search from Irwin's pod last night: Vaughn and Brooks can be had if we want them. Doesn't sound like Stotts is an option. Rondo is tricky, CP is a factor. From what he's heard, people think they'd let bygones be bygones but if things go wrong in the season then that could be an issue. Handy isn't really an option. Things didn't end well. I'm guessing he's upset he didn't get the job in Feb when Ham should've been fired and didn't get consideration or an interview this summer (pure speculation on my part).

Also from an earlier pod around the time they let him go, Irwin framed it as the team thought he was one of the leaks (pretty sure he was) and preventing leaks has been a big priority this summer.

I think we should ban quoting Anthony Irwin on this website. The guy is a douche bag and has tiny D syndrome. Cannot stand a word he says.

i'll never stop harping...how is this bad news? why would people expect everyone you talk to is going to be stumbling over themselves to take your job? if that was the case, you're not talking to enough people, imo. nothing wrong with brooks, casey, or vaughn as assistant coaches.

yeah. it's impossible not to discuss his takes because he has so many of them, but man...integrity...look into it. if i want angry fan perspective, i can get it here, and i won't be mad about it. the framing of that piece isn't at all in line with the facts contained in it.

At this point, he simply annoys me when he breaths. If he could stop breathing, I might find him a slight bit more interesting. I'm sure his wife would.

So, the “Lakers are cheap” truth shows up again- this time with assistant coaches.
That’s just embarrassing, no matter how hard you try and paint it as anything other than.

Why so much talk about Handy for HC? To my knowledge, he's a player development assistant, I never saw him being part of offense or defense schemes. Has he ever expressed interest in that?

I never got it, even back in February. Maybe I missed something

Yeah..one of those sounds good in theory, but doesn't really make any sense, when you actually think about it things.

It's a bit odd, that we've been interviewing the hell out of multiple candidates, and nobody has accepted a job. Are we lowballing people? Trying to extract a Lakers discount? Or is the prospect of working under a total unknown in Redick, just not an enticing proposition?

Hoping they've just been preoccupied with the draft and FA. When FA settles, they'll get back to evaluating the handful of guys and we can get some to put pen to paper. Otherwise Rambis might have to come down and coach summer league.
