nobody needs to offer grown men excuses. At the end of the day, if you suit up, you need to get it done. And if you don't suit up, you're a p****.

    So two choices.

    A. You're a p****
    B. Play to your full potential every game so we can pick apart even the most minor mistake

Thomas Bryant is probably thinking lately..

"Damn...I might have made a bad decision".

i think nick said earlier in the thread that we need to have better plans for when teams are packing the paint on AD. we've definitely seen enough of it at this point and should have quicker, more effective counters. teams have learned how to limit his quality touches and seen what it does to our offense. you either need to draw stuff up that helps us get others good shots or draw stuff up to get AD in good spots. we've occasionally done this but not often.

as purp said, i've also lamented for two years now that coaches (and maybe AD himself) seem to really want him to be catching the ball at the top of the key or further out, and i don't understand that. he's not a wizard passer, and we basically send zero cutters most of the time anyway, and teams are let off the hook when he catches on the standstill outside of his shooting range. you're making it easy on them. get him moving and/or against an advantage. opponents have to work hard to prevent both of those, and if they do, we should be able to get better looks elsewhere and win anyway, as happened within the okc game (they switched strategies and punished both ways).

Doesn't this basically just amount to his dumb a** coach calling more plays for him?

Yes you can still win by getting others good shots, but generally speaking, from what I've watched and the limited amounts of data I've looked at, the team does better when AD is getting more shots. I'd be curious what the +/- is when he's getting lots of shots vs few shots, but don't know how to get that aggregate data without doing it by hand.

Like I said in the game post ..... AD looks like he has a cold. Or flu vs Chicago he looked like he had sniffles a lot he looked kinda yellowish too from face and of course he jammed his finger in the game as well

there's certainly an element of that. but you can't playcall your way into quality shots for davis if the opponent's whole strategy is basically "anything but that" (see toronto game). what you can do is get others going by using their aggressiveness against AD against them and then circle back to AD when they have to adjust (feel like this happened maybe in the phx game?).

anyway, we shouldn't have 8 attempts from him in a loss. in a win? no problem.

Update on these stats. Just heard from Ireland.

When AD has 10 or more shots, Lakers are 101-66.
When AD has 9 or fewer shots, Lakers are 10-10.

i'd like to see the full distribution. the <10 is small sample, and i bet several of them are games he exited with injury?

and it will always be tricky, because the assumption that just upping FGAs will lead to better results can't be conclusively supported.

but overall, yes, i'd like to see our top players getting closer to 15 shots a game, at least. if a team loads up enough to cut that in half, we should be killing them in other ways.

Right, I'd like to see more data too - but the data we have, supports the eye test and the obvious idea that getting AD more shots leads to better results. It's not complicated. Get him shots and we win, generally speaking. I.e. Don't be a dumb a**, Ham.

Big time game tonight. This is what I'm pounding the table, begging from AD. More aggressive, active on the glass, quicker decisions once he catches the ball, drilling superstar shots. Didn't matter what they tried against him. And no, the difference wasn't Drummond.

The "get back" roadie, I dig it

Incredibly efficient offensive game tonight. Stunning line again. We're going to need another effort like this on Friday against KAT/Gobert frontline, no small feat.

Historically he likes destroying Gobert. I'm hoping he's in one of those moods.

I would like to see him redeem himself against KAT. The last few times have not gone AD’s way.

AD needs a Draymond Green to keep him motivated .

No surprise he was at his best when Rondo was a Laker

Superstar s***. This is what 75% of Bron's mid range and 3s fall under, I'd argue. If he wants to be in that elite mix, that's what he's got to consistently do. You hit these and it makes getting those easy gimme buckets a lot easier.
