Get rid of AD and become a lottery team instantly, who'd replace him? He's our entire defense.

Could have won this year had we not stroked Lebron's ego for the terrible Westbrook trade and fired Vogel for absolutely no fault of his own. I thoroughly believe we had major improvements to be made on defense and adjustments that Hamboner never considered... damn shame too.

Didn’t Davis just dominate pretty much through most of the playoffs until he ran up against the problem of how to play (as a team) against the best player in the league who’s a 7 footer and everyone out of their gourds from DEEP? Certainly on Defense as the best defender in the fricken league. Sorry Perk he didn’t give you 72-82 games in the regular season. Like pretty much every other good big man didn’t except Jokic. Who do you have in mind Perk to replace THAT?? This is still f****** ridiculous how his immense talent is treated as if it can be picked up from the G-League and the fact he DID finish the playoffs while equally injury prone, because of the way he TOO plays the game, and much older LeBron was the guy who wasn’t near full effectiveness. And DLO chumped against the Nuggets. We’d have had ring #18. That’s the chance and ability AD gives you every season. Health is ALWAYS a crapshoot. Tatum’s ankle in the ECF and now Butler’s.

yep. i'm totally down with just extending him at the max for full years, btw. you just don't get your hands on this kind of talent. we had no business getting him in the first place. there's one guy this good drafted every 5 years, imo. philly took several shots in shameless fashion and ended up with someone not as good (imo) who misses even more time.

that said, i wouldn't fault the lakers FO for feeling it out a bit and saying, "hey, the full offer's on the table, but if you're not sure, that's ok, too. just keep us in the loop."

Agree... As an aside, every media talking head should be talking about Miami.

I’d love to sign Bobby Portis or Naz Reid to help give AD some cover in the paint.

Maybe he needs to play with contacts, and the poor vision is related to lack of glasses and constantly fumbling the ball.

He should definitely wear the Kareem/Worthy goggles at least. Not only would it appease the basketball gods by keeping the tradition but the dude gets hit in the head so often the more protection he has the better .

every time jokic had a smaller guard on him tonight, he used his size and strength to get past them and force his way to the hoop

wish AD would do the same instead of settling for jumpers when he's being guarded by someone under 6'5

I think either you’re wired aggressively or you’re not. If we want to lament everything he doesn’t do, we’ll be unhappy. I guess we should celebrate what he does great and pieces around him to do the stuff he can’t.

he does when they don't double. as jvg pointed out during the game, the heat weren't doubling jokic on the elbow catches, and he was punishing them. this is exactly what AD does when teams don't double him.

    what's the difference, you ask?

denver runs three good shooters on the floor at all times AND jokic is a much better passer than AD, so doubling comes at a higher cost.

but the idea that AD doesn't punish smaller defenders is a myth, imo. he kills them in isolation as long as he's not catching behind the three point line (notice denver doesn't have jokic catch against smalls on the perimeter).

AD was a lot slimmer then. He bulked up a lot to play the 5.

because the 4-out offense has spots guys are supposed to be in, generally speaking.

actually, we do. note that most of them are in isolation against slower guys. look at all the space in some of those clips.

anyway, AD averaged 26ppg and was basically the league's top paint scorer. but facts like these are somehow problematic for lakers fans.

his paint scoring is combination of lob dunks, rim running and o-reb, that doesnt mean hes punishing smaller players in the post....there were scenarios where he couldnt even move draymond or pj tucker type and he does take a fair amt of jumpers and fadeaway jumpers while being guarded by smaller players, if it wasnt occuring on consistent basis most wouldn't gripe bout it

the montage you griped about wasn't him backing down draymond green.

i defy you to find footage of AD backing down stump defenders from whatever alternative history you like to draw from.

though he did overpower gs and memphis's bigs in the paint to the tune of muscled offensive boards and dunks on heads just a few weeks ago.
