lol but it didn't happen, did it? i know the story is rob supposedly balked at a second year (lol, no), but i think the more likely story is bron balked at a 20 million dollar haircut.
Man AD said that he preferred 4 over 5 when he got traded here! Folks keep acting like this, is some kind of new stuff. The dude was 1st Team All NBA in New Orleans...as a power forward. What the hell is wrong with that? I don't blame AD, if you keep saying the same thing, and your GM ignores you, put some pressure on his a**. Gasol was washed up Abeer, they also said that the team, was tired of his lackadaisical attitude on the court too. That's why they signed Drummond. Trez was a 6'7 SF, masquerading as a back up center. And Frank didn't seem to like him, at all for some reason. Nobody forced Rob to move away from Javale and Dwight, that was his decision. Nobody forced him to trade for Westbrook either. He didn't help the situation with that s*** roster he put together that season either. This idea that the Westbrook trade forced him to go cheap on bigs is another stretch. He burned our MLE on Walker, Nunn and Vincent. Nobody forced him to do that either. Let's not forget that he traded a FRP for Shroeder, and let him walk for nothing, while we were already over the salary cap. After turning down a FRP ,to move Tucker and Shroeder to Toronto. Rob makes some dumb moves sometimes man, and he occasionally makes some decent ones. Let's see what he does now. He deserves the criticism he gets the majority of the time IMO
gasol/trez was an upgrade on howard/mcgee. if AD doesn't go down, we're in the finals again, maybe even winning again. if you're going to repeat the same stuff, so will i. russ made getting a good center impossible after that year. pretty sure ham had no plans to play AD at pf, especially considering he'd play gabe at that spot if he could. so we're finally in a place where we can acquire a center. let's see if we do. but failure to do so the past three years is pretty forgivable. the only complaint i've had is that our vet min centers have all been of a certain type (hayes, wood, koloko), and we needed to diversify there if we were going to do center by committee. but the preference is to not vet min it.
gasol was washed and harrell was a great spark off the bench, but virtually unplayable in the playoffs. were they really an upgrade over dwight/mcgee?
Gasol looked frickn' great as an additional excellent passing Big Man HUB on offense .... and decent still on D especially with his smarts (both sides of the ball strengths his whole career) PRIOR to the injuries to both AD and HIM. So he was hobbled for awhile and no AD and Harrell not giving rim defense. So understandably they went after Drummond to try to stop the leaking now on D at the rim, and had to promise him the starting spot which complicated things from there obviously while Marc attempted to get healthy again. He wasn't washed when he got here. We looked really good on D and on O with him in there until all the above started. FOH with all that noise. To quote one of Slick's favorite phrases.
Lakers finished 1st in Def rating in the 2020- 2021 season despite the injuries . I think Danny Green - KCP -Caruso and Schroder were bigger reasons of that success than the bigs in these 2 seasons
gasol wasn't washed. check the numbers--the team performed better with him on the floor, just like every team gasol ever played for...ever. his defensive numbers were off the charts positive, despite him being fat and slow or whatever. which again was true earlier in his career, too. people never could accept his value, but he was poor man's jokic before jokic rose to enough prominence for people to get it. ironically, his issue was on offense. but again, i've wasted a lot of electrons trying to demonstrate this to no avail. but the narrative is false. gasol was good here, especially defensively. and harrell was sixth man of the year, playing backup center, the year before we signed him and basically produced exactly the same with us. meanwhile, dwight and javale were meh in their new digs and faded out quickly. i know this was a waste, and that in the next post someone will try to misrepresent the past again. and then three months from now i'll consider posting all this again, but the narrative is b*******. b*******. b*******. gasol was an upgrade. harrell was an upgrade. westbrook killed the lebron/AD run.
Correct. Gasol was beyond washed. He was awful defensively. Trez put up hallow numbers and played worse D back then than LeBron does now. They most definitely were not upgrades over what we had. Sure, on paper, everyone claimed they would be, but in real life, they weren’t.
Man I spit laughing going through your message and then Frontofjersey my immediate thought was that it was on purpose ahahah
Nah man, I’m not angry over this. You see it one way, others see it differently. It’s called a difference of opinion.
Not bad at all. You know he kicked a team's a** when he gets double digit FTs They were just way too small for him GS really needs a C. Just hope they don't take whichever one we're trying to get.
lol, i had forgotten about that play, but while i was watching it live, i was like...that could be called a flagrant, tbh. i don't think it was malicious, but it was definitely dangerous and definitely NOT a play on the ball in any way.
