elite players and stars are expected to improve ala jokic not stagnate or regress irregardless of the team makeup
why are we talking about jokic? AD had a pretty good playoffs. he's not a problem at all and can't be upgraded upon. next topic.
Jokic hasn't been hurt in the 3 years since the bubble either. Who improved without playing? Point somebody out if it's that simple.
I am not sure what you mean… it is not up to me to say whether it’s OK for Davis to get better or not. It’s up to him to see how much he can improve, if at all. Maybe we’ve seen peak AD already? Defensively he’s a beast, offensively he’s quite alright, but he’s regressed in some aspects of the game, after having multiple injuries… Jokic has been an iron man. Therefore, he plays a lot, which is required to get better. AD loses continuity, because he needs time to recover and get into shape… … one thing is for sure: he is not as good as Jokic overall, and he is never going to have that kind of offensive impact. That’s not who he is. Jokic can handle the ball like a guard, create for others, create his own shot out of nowhere. He dominates in the post, shoots midrange like Booker, and hits fadeaway threes. AD just isn’t going to do any of that, aside from elite finishing around the rim. In that sense, I say “it’s OK”; becaue I realize they were the better team, and Nikola is better than AD. There’s no shame in that. We’ll make moves (hopefully smart ones and nothing drastic) and try again. West is in the state of flux.
AD was an absolute monster on defense and a primary reason we got to the conference finals (and even made the playoffs in the first place, as lebron missed the last stretch of the year, in case everyone already forgot). he's also not the reason we lost to denver (jamal murray doing the troy hudson/mike bibby shuffle was the main reason). we should just be glad he's on our team and hope he can be healthy for another playoff run next year where maybe we won't face a team playing the best basketball they've ever played by a country mile.
Man good for Lowe and those other 3 are clueless to sit there outraged at what he is saying about the importance of his ability and effort on defense. Especially the female unit putting her hands up derisively in front of her the whole time like Zach is crazy with his outrage against this media narrative that "wants" to be so negative about AD and ignores the other side of the ball. I bet @Cookie would like to have been sitting right next to her for a piece of her Byron style .....
i get why he's exasperated, too. i mean, i have no idea what most people are watching with AD. it's totally insane how he's a punching bag, especially by his own team's fans. every team would love to have a problem like him. all of them.
It's wild that there are just so disparate factions on AD Right now he is a 10 player based on being the best defensive player in the NBA and having a pretty good offensive game. That being said, I think it is fair to say that he has regressed since the Bubble year and more so on offense than defense. He has the talent to be an MVP of the NBA and right now the lack of the jumper is the specific reason why. It's something I hope he works on because he should have a few more seasons where if things falls into place like the Bubble he should be in the conversation for best player in the league.
it's ok to wish he was better; it's not ok to deny that he's great as is. i think his offense in the bubble is like murray's offense right now. can he do it for short periods? sure. he did it this year, too, for a stretch. but he's not actually THAT good on offense. that said, teams didn't just invert their offense to avoid him, they also never basically let him get a post touch without a double, nor did they let him roll without pulling from the weakside. so, he's kind of a big reason our offense works, too. but yeah, let's trade the beta.
AD had more help in the Bubble with bigs that could defend the 5, better perimeter defenders and a younger fresher lebron
you cant deny his jump shot has regressed as well as his fts....box score watching is for those who said he had a "good" gm 4, prior to 4th qtr he was 3/11 with 11pts or something like that. With bron probably tired from his 1st half heroics you'd think/expect AD to carry em the test of the way
AD is the best defender in the NBA and for a stretch he was averaging 30+. I agree with Pioneer in that to improve he needs to get his jumper back. But even if he doesn’t, he is still a top 10 player. AD isn’t the problem.
No one’s denying it what do you want to hear? It’s too bad and damned sure AD is not happy about it too that more of his decent looks he was able to get off didn’t go in. Like abeer and svtzr said though …. in the Bubble for a streak and certainly since and this very season he has gone on incredible offensive streaks.
didnt say hes a problem nor that he needs to be traded but fact of matter he hasn't added anything new to his game and the "reasonings" he hasnt improved in comparison to Jokic progression isn't "FINE"....he's suppose to be 1B or batman to Bron but 3yrs later Bron still has to do most of the heavy lifting
