Overplaying AD & Bron in the 4th was a stupid decision that I and others warned about before the game and were upset about during the game. He didn't cause AD's injury but put him and Bron in a bad spot that jeopardizes Game 6 and the series. Any injuries or tiredness in the 4th quarter that carries over to G6 are on Ham.
We were within striking distance off and on until after AD went out. You don't quit cause you're down 10 or 12 early in the 4th and it goes down and up some for awhile. There was a chance to end the series.
No we weren't. We were down double digits the entire 2nd half and it never got close. I'm not blaming the reffing, but you can also see the way the reffing was going and would know it's stacked against us. You can also see and know from past history Bron & AD getting tired and absorbing lots of shots. Ham put them in harm's way for very little win equity. Risk vs reward level was stupid. And it's not just contained to that game. Playing them a lot of minutes like he did with Bron and would have with AD if he didn't get injured, can carry over to the next game. If they had played 30 min each without injury, we win Game 6 easily. Same script as Games 2 & 3. But now it's in jeopardy. Stupid decision making.
I think blaming Ham for playing Lebron and AD in the fourth quarter is ridiculous. The game WAS within striking distance. The deficit was hovering around 10 points in the fourth quarter, occasionally reaching single digits. We have erased deficits like that in this very series within minutes (hell, we pretty much did it already this very GAME in the first half). Sure the Warriors had enough momentum such that a comeback seemed unlikely, but I would have said the same about many of our various comebacks this year. You can’t just throw the white flag THAT early, and I don’t think Lebron or AD would have even let Ham pull them. Even if a comeback was unlikely, you have to keep fighting to keep within striking distance so that the Warriors don’t get to rest THEIR players
But reality is, your level of anger with this aside, Ham’s not going to very publicly sit uninjured AD and LeBron super early only down those amounts with continued mini rallies. Funny … everyone wants the Mamba mentality until ….. when they were out there doing what Kobe would do?
These last couple of series just points out that we are in need of someone who will come in and KICK some BUTT. You gonna manhandle us, pay the piper. We've had them in the past, time to find one. Someone manhandles one of our stars, bring in the a** kicker and beat them down. F'em. I am tired of this s***!!!
The one point of disagreement was when AD was heading to the locker room: that was when for sure I would have pulled Lebron (give him his regular 5-6 minute rest) and see where the game goes. Doesn't mean you give up but it was unrealistic for the team to come back immediately when AD was pulled
