didn't like reading that the reevaluation showed basically no signs of any healing. anyway, AD's missed 25 games and still has more 30/15 games than anyone else in the league.
I'm taking it as...he still has a bone spur floating around, but it doesn't cause him any pain or discomfort.
hmmm, i thought he bone spur was a separate issue from the navicular bone. my sense was there's a stress reaction in the navicular bone AND there's a loose bone spur in there. the pain largely comes from the spur, which would explain why it comes and goes, but the worry is the stress reaction turning into a fracture on the navicular bone, which would be...not good. and thus no signs of healing on that means that he's constantly one wrong turn away from a broken foot.
i could be wrong about all this, but that's one way to read how these injuries have been reported. the hazards of being very large and very mobile. ask zion about it.
Shush!! Hazards clearly of bombs in luggage on planes too but not allowed to talk about it in front of people in the check in line.
The Lakers will play everyone for every game from here on out (paraphrasing Darvin Ham from around a month ago), because the season's too short and there's too much on the line. The Lakers will sit out AD on every BTB. (If you see something illogical already, you are paying attention.) AD is hurt but feeling no pain. (This is Lewis Carroll-level use of language.) After the monster game against NO, Ham announced AD would not play the next day against Houston :"According to Ham, this is still related to the foot injury that sidelined AD for 20 games earlier in the season. Coach Ham made it clear, however, that Davis has been playing pain-free from the injury. As such, the team’s decision to have Davis sit out on Wednesday appears to be purely precautionary." "Purely precautionary": that's maybe too honest for Silver and the NBA. The meaning of "load" here has at least two different meanings. Feeds into the "we gotta do something about superstars not playing due to load management." It's been heavily talked about that Silver and the NBA have to do something about superstars not playing due to Load Mgmt. And, though we could lose to effing 52-losses-already HOU, I have to say I'm on the side of the teams, though I do feel for the not-rich hardcore NBA fan in HOU who had this date circled, wanting to see AD at the arena, spending $450 or whatever. Message to fans: beware of the BTB game. Caveat emptor, etc. Most suspect it's a word-game now for teams: talk about an injury to legitimate keeping a guy out on a BTB. I wonder if "purely precautionary" slipped over the line for Adam Silver. Probably. But honestly: what can he do about it? Business organizations have their bottom line: maximize productivity, minimize risk of losses. It sucks for fans (incl us, and if we lose to HOU, it's a "load" of crap), but to quote the famous NBA player named Lebron James, "It is what it is."
don't think he chose to sit out. the team/medical staff kept him out. still ridiculous when you need every win you can get
You'd think they'd at least put a minutes restriction or something. Cap him at 25 mins so we aren't totally tiny out there. Minnesota and Dallas are essentially 2 games ahead of us since they have the tie-breakers Looking like a 9-10 matchup of us and OKC and the winner faces the loser of Dallas/Wolves. Looks like the players are gonna get plenty of rest from April to October.
I think they won’t fully activate AD because of LeBron’s situation, he might not comeback so why risk AD for a single round or play in.
This shows me that there is value in rest. I am not convinced that specifically applying that rest on a B2B is more valuable than, say, some intensive treatment (I don't know -- hyperbaric chamber) otherwise. Or spreading his minutes across BOTH games in a more strategic manner. The above just shows the simplistic everyman approach. Lakers players have all the money and means to rehab in a more scientifically advanced way, instead of adhering to "well, stay off of it for a couple of months" BS. Knowing AD's lazy a**, I am convinced he isn't maniacally rehabbing that on the regular days off. He should have had and then playing on B2B would have less of an impact. I may be wrong, but the above video did jack in convincing me in that. Basically, ask yourself WWKD. You know he'd be sleeping in that MFer...
