If we don't sign KCP for what he wants, it's going to be because we signed another Klutch client (Harrell) so what do they want from us? I'm starting to think we will sign KCP for like 12 million and we will get Tristan Thompson for the minimum. If that's not in the cards, we may be in trouble. We need another big, and that's assuming we actually land Gasol.
Holding the Lakers hostage? For what? They already flipped 2 geezers for prime role players. Also, Lebron is signed for 2 years. I'm gonna guess they are holding off in case the Lakers need flexibility? See this is why dinks like Woj need to stay off TV and talking. He's a dork who should just post updates. Everything else he does is useless.
Yeah, I’m going with OX on this one. AD is the only avenue for any flexibility we have. He knows now that the FO loves him and is committed to building around him for the future. But IF he needs to take slightly less so we dont stay hard capped and more flexible he has the option to do that.
LeBron runs Klutch. I just don't know how he plans on getting all his clients paid while still packing the team with talent to win. I don't want to see another Cleveland Cavailers situation where J.R./Tristan Thompson were both paid around $36-40 million combined and then the Cavs couldn't trade them once Bron left.
Cook, I think that 6 year hellhole the Lakers were in ruined our intestinal fortitude a bit. We still find ourselves panicking over the simplest thing. And the media knows how to pounce on it and then your brain starts to mess with your heart and neither one can make a decision. Reality is AD was wallowing in NBA Siberia in New Orleans. Wasted 7 years of his career, 6 of those years hall of fame years, and within 1 year in LA, sealed his 1st ballot hall of fame career. Lebron was going back and forth working with Comic Sans and a Tyrant and now he is getting the best possible teams to finish off his career. Lakers are the standard when the David Stern's don't destroy your team. Klutch may be catered too, but the Lakers have a history of always getting the players they want when they need to.
Lebron is smart but after winning the 2016 Finals, the Cavs resigning marginal players was a bad move. They needed to bring another guy who could be a star but I wasn't sure if the Cavs were capable. Hence, why he left eventually.
I'll take "Klutch antics" over the Julius , DAR , Clarkson , BI and Lonzo area . Sure it will cost us in 3-4 years but let's win another one or two titles . Can't have everything. Plus LA and Cleveland and Lakers and Cavs are different things ...
The bullying tactics are the same. I'm not doubting any of it, just saying that Klutch has immense power because of how powerful LeBron is. At the same time, there has to be a mutual understanding that sacrifices on both ends have to be made.
Anthony Davis is 27. Lakers are set for the next 7 years. When Lebron retires, Lakers will have a star waiting for them in free agency that summer.
Not only a 27 year old star in AD, but the Lakers are “testing out” players to be his sidekicks for years to come. Schroeder- 27 Harrell- 26 Kuz- 25 KCP- 27 Caruso- 26 You see what Rob is doing here? They’re not all going to stick, but Rob is purposeful in trying to surround AD with a CORE that’s his age, so they can win championships for years to come. Once LeBron is retired, we replace him with another star and we’re going to compete for a very long time.
I don't see us getting quickly another great number option 1 to pair with AD who is one of the best 2nd option ever when Lebron is done/retired ( by that time it only will be Giannis or Luka). We still will be in the playoffs though
Bullying and holding hostage are real tactics Klutch and others use when in an adversarial relationship with a FO. This is not that. Rich Paul, LeBron, Jeanie and Rob are all partners in crime at this point.
This. I think our franchise’s top decision making allying themselves with Klutch is in everyone’s best interest. Lebron and Klutch have a lot of pull, the Lakers have a lot to offer. So on that note, AD runs the show with his free agent decision 100%. There should be no pressure from the front office, no asking him to take paycuts to help us stay under the hard tax. Just present AD with all the options available to him, and let him make the decision he wants on his own time. It’s not a hostage situation, it’s just the respect you show to the superstar that just won you a championship who you hope to make the face of your franchise. The fact that it strengthens our relationship with the whole Klutch family is just icing on top. I’ve heard haters describe Lebron and Klutch as a mafia. But you know what, I’ll give that to them. It’s true. I just look at it positively. I’m happy that their mafia looked at the allure of the Laker franchise and decided it was mutually beneficial to build an alliance with us.
