First it was we don't have enough to give up. It happens, we mortgage our future. Whatever... String music at the stripe for a big... Surprised if he misses one.
It's certainly fun to watch, and I appreciate it. But didn't Kobe mention how, you shouldn't need to ask free agents to be Lakers.
Yeah Shaq and Mikan had 42 in their Finals debuts plus Durant’s mentioned in this graphic but not the one with Shaq. How many did he have in his debut?
Funny how the Lakers indirectly dodged all these players. Kawhi, Paul George, Aldridge, Carmelo, all these guys proved Kobe right. If you have to be convinced, you aint it. It's truer now than ever before because AD and Lebron wanted to be Lakers and look at the results. They are 3 wins away from putting their hall of fame careers as LA Lakers champions. Lakers are the #1 sports franchise on the planet. Man U and Real Madrid have an argument, but no one has had the line up of talent in one franchise and won as much as they have combined in any sport or team. You could put 4 Lakers on the Mount Rushmore of basketball and have it be justified.
Not even getting an interview with Durant sucked. I am only talking about his basketball ability, though. Because he seems a really weird and complicated guy. Knocking down clutch shots one day, then arguing with teenagers online the next etc. Maybe he would never have had thick enough skin to cut it in LA. Plus he wouldn't have backed himself like LeBron to restructure the roster around him. Instead, he jumped on a Warriors bandwagon (even if he eventually became the guy).
It's not even fair out there for a Miami. The clinic he put on in the 3rd was special. Final line 32 on 15-20 from the floor 14 rebounds (8 off.) Rebounding dominance like tonight makes the 2 rebound games frustrating. I know Miami is tragically undersized, but a lot of it is effort for him. He hunted those boards.
Looks like Miami played 2-3 zone and it worked because Danny Green and KCP could not make anything out there. They forced those two to make shots and they went 2-19 from three. Complete embarrassment from those two... I wonder what Danny Green even does for us anymore. He can't guard Jimmy Butler, can't make threes, and we don't even need him for 'veteran' presence because no one wants to listen to someone who is bricking 1-9 from three. AD had a monstrous game. It's unfortunate he couldn't get 40-50 because the two stooges couldn't make wide open shots.
Anthony Davis was stunning today. Unfortunately he was so good the desperate commentators can't make this a series. Feels like glorified regular season games with our intensity on and off Anthony Davis was there. Anthony Davis can definitely take the (Miami) Heat and will stay in the kitchen (until we win). Loved the talk about where he is all time as a PF, and of course that will be after he hopefully brings some more championships to LA, but that elevation and silky J when engaged just isn't fair, he is locked and loaded. I look for his goals next year to be Defensive player of the year, regular season mvp and finals mvp, and the scary thing this is realistic. This AD can make the Greek Freak look just frankly Greek. And it's those little things that helped get him here.
didnt even have to be Butler, green probably wouldn't even be able to guard Dragic with his f up foot
^...not a liability at the stripe and much better at shooting threes. Even checked Butler tonight in spots. That high arching floater that drew nothing but net was a thing of beauty. Crashed the boards for put-backs too.
He’s either the best player in the world. Or the second best player behind Lebron James. If I have to pick one player at the current stage of their career to build around, its AD.
