^ Yup. Get McGee out of the way when you have AD on the floor and tell him to go inside. We're enabling his perimeter addiction by playing him mostly as a 4, instead of using Kuz and Kieff more.
Enough with this "white swan" BS. Post some people up, throw an elbow here and there and posterize a fool or two!
Where is the AD who dominate Rudy Gobert? The settling, the hesitation, the lackadaisical bull s***, the embarrassing 7 point 2nd half outing. Not gonna fly. Talent wise, he's the best big in the game. Time to play like it. Attack the damn rim. Use your guard like footwork and put these bigs on skates. Two man game them to death with Bron in the p&r. Take jumpers after you work yourself into a rhythm, instead of trying to find a rhythm through bad 3s. I expect 40/20 in game 2.
Por has the sz to bother AD in the paint and until our guards can prove they hit perimiter shots Por will just pack the paint
If you are a top 5 player, if you are the best at your position, what the other team has should be irrelevant. With any of the top 15 big men it didn't matter how big the other team was. Talent rises the top and wins out. Establish dominance and punish them. Get deeper in the post or make your move before the help comes. AD is in his basketball prime. He has to be 2x the player he's been in the bubble (excluding Jazz game).
we all know getting in the paint and exerting his will isnt AD gm.....when he dominated Rudy cause of he hit his outside shot 1st and that threw off Rudy
Absolutely agreed JSM. We need aggressive AD like we saw against the Clips and Jazz. He doesn't have to be that great every single game, but if he is going to alternate between excellent AD and soft serve AD every other game we are going to lose . . . and sooner than later. He should be dominating Portland not shooting 33% on long fade ways and clanking three point attempts. Get in the paint and punish the opposition.
He can. Why he's not... blame can be split 3 ways between the AD/Bron/Vogel trio. He has no problem running the floor and he can get to his spot before the defense can settle, but we have to push the ball to do that. He can bring it up himself and do the same a few times a game. Bron is a better long distance passer than some starting QBs in the NFL, he can get it to AD from virtually any spot on the floor. The p&r can be one of our most reliable options, given the skill set of Bron and AD, there's no excuse they're not rolling that out. At the very least you'll get a switch with a favorable matchup for Bron. AD has gone off in the first quarter and then nearly always fizzles out as the game progresses. That cannot happen and again, there's blame to go around for all 3 men. I'd say in those big first quarters, he is exerting his will. But we go away from what got us rolling.
The fact that we aren't running pick and roll many times a go is completely mind boggling. We went to it last night, had success for a few trips down and then went completely away from it the rest of the game. I just don't understand how Lebron and AD aren't pick and rolling Portland to death. They have no counter for that.
Huge game for us and for AD. If he doesn’t show up tonight I think we will have dug ourselves too deep a hole. Time for AD to demonstrate that he is the next franchise guy and can help lead us to multiple titles. He needs to be aggressive and show what he’s made of. Step up on D, get in the paint, pick and roll these fools and stop settling for jumpers. I want to see north of 30 points tonight, focus, a mean streak, dominance. No more softness.
if no one can make a wide open shot, AD can't operate. it's that simple. no nba team shoots as badly as we have in the bubble. it's impossible to overcome. if the clippers or bucks missed all their open threes, kawhi and giannis would lose, too, and look bad doing it.
I love AD on our team, and I agree with most all the comments above about him needing to get in the paint. But, I can't think of another big his size that handles physical contact so poorly. He almost always gets knocked off balance by hard contact. It may be why we so rarely post him. But, we can, as someone mentioned above get him the ball in space, in transition, and while he is moving. My "dream" is that AD would seek out Hakeem this off season for some post tutoring.
Who was guarding AD on the post? Gabriel someone? There is no excuse at all for AD to have gone 1 for his first 10. That’s simply inexcusable. The role players are who they are. They’ve been shooting terrible all bubble long. But AD is something else. Him shooting 33 percent had little or nothing to do with everyone else’s garbage shooting. He settled for jumpers when he should have been aggressive.
That's more like it. Aggressive, assertive, and dominant. Didn't drift outside until he was already in NBA Jam mode. Keep it up.
Now we're talking. Reemergence of Aggressive AD. He and we dominated. Nicely done. Now go out and do that for three straight more games and send these guys packing.
