Instead? Are you suggesting we simply let AD go, waste a year of Lebron, and then go after Giannis in 2021? Or are you proposing that we do the 1+1 and then just let him go after the first year? Either way, that's gonna be a no from me dog.
My point is that I'm not heartbroken if we only keep him during LBJ's tenure. You already know I'm annoyed that we spent so much... if he doesn't want to be here long term, then I'd focus on Giannis who I think will be a more impactful player. It pisses me off that he's wishy washy or coy about his future here knowing what we spent for him. I wouldn't be stupid about it and I'd kiss his a** if I'm Lakers management... but as a fan it rubs me the wrong way.
Players have all the power now, get used to it. I have a very hard time remotely thinking that you’d be ok chucking AD and HOPING we get Giannis. Sure I’d love Giannis, I’m sure everyone on this board would but hoping and wishing is not a plan.
I just said if I'm the executive, I'd be very humble and do what is necessary to keep him. But as a fan... I can vent at the arrogance of the whole situation. We all complain about what Dwight did... but AD leaving prematurely would make Dwight's decision pale in comparison in light of the price.
we paid a higher price for dwight. bynum was an allstar and the second-best center in the nba. he'd won a title. he was what, 23, at the time of the trade? it would be like if your boy BI had actually produced and won in la, then was moved for a superstar in his prime. except dwight was coming off back surgery, whereas AD was healthy coming over. the fact that bynum basically never played again means nothing in terms of price paid. we gave up a tremendous asset in that deal.
way too many 10 ft fadeaways. a lot of them fell tonight but that won't always be the case he still doesn't look 100% out there
28 points, 50% shooting, 13 of 13 from the line, 5, 5 and two blocks? Yeah I'll take it. MUCH better showing obviously than v. the C Bags. And we needed it. Great bounce back game from AD.
Since joining the Lakers, he also seems to be allergic to rebounding. It is not acceptable that the Lakers regularly get owned on the boards given we always have the bigger team on the floor. We don't really box out and nobody takes pride at going after it. Very sad.
A.D is a very good number 2 option to have ( I think his inability to make his teammates better on the offensive end is too much ignored) . We still have to find another number 1 option after Lebron retires. A Davis led team ceiling is the number 6th-8th spot in the West
i'm not sure what all this means. AD is a top five nba player. if an AD-led team tops out 6-8, what do other teams do? what does it mean to lead in this case? any player without another allstar--even the best players--top out 6-8 seeds in the west. only in the east do you see teams led by one real star achieve great regular season success. AD has proven he can be the #1 offensive option on a playoff team, and he's one of three best defensive players in the league, year in and year out. i'm sorry he hasn't beaten the clippers and C Bags. this seems like an irrationally important metric for lakers fans. but he's a big reason why we're the best team in the conference, and competent management could easily field a contender with him as the best player. easily.
He's making progress. Didn't physically look 100%, but MUCH better showing than he had against Boston. Conditioning looked fine. And this was against a NY team who the refs let get away with quite a bit against AD. Tonight will be a better test. Back to back (without travel, thankfully) against a couple real bigs.
With those long arms, him always going away from the basket on his post moves is frustrating. It should be a counter move as if he's going to the basket it's more likely he would get a foul drawn as well. He could use a baby hook going to his strong hand as part of his arsenal
