IDK what's going on with AD...but that performance against the Clippers is unacceptable.

I hope he can get back to being the dominant AD that we saw to start the season....

i honestly can't remember the last time we did this. if we win it will likely be a nailbiter like all of our wins, because we don't have leadership on the floor that takes regular season games seriously.

fans and media call him mr. glass, so he refuses to rest for injuries that other stars sit for. kawhi leonard got to just sit half the season, show up for half the rest of the games looking absolutely dominant, and everyone kisses his a**. AD shows up playing on one leg and everyone wants more. it's b*******, and we're complicit. we fumbled trading for a hofer in his prime because we wanted to appease lebron, imo. team should have been built to AD's strengths starting in 2021, and instead we kept doing whatever worked for lebron. AD will be the scapegoat in any case, but we did this wrong.

Good showing. Got after it on the glass. JJ praised his work rolling to the rim in this one.

Even got to show of his point guard skills from high school

We’re in what, year 4 of him asking for this? Massive failure by the front office to not address this and to go further and further away from our championship identity year after year

Klutch putting maximum pressure on Rob.

    - Bron's post game comments which clip they ran back in this interview.
-The Shams report about Bron and AD being concerned about us not making a significant move before the deadline.
    - now this sit down. Where AD says point blank what he thinks we need, that we're a piece or two away, AND that he and Bron are hungry to win for the haters and the city.

If there was any doubt of who's camp Shams gets his Laker info from, shouldn't be now.

The fact that Bron and especially AD are being *this* vocal...(AD did a sit down to make this as public as possible) makes me think a) they believe in the bones of this team and what it can do, b) the West is open and c) this is probably their last real shot.

    Ball's in your court Robbie.

I hope if Bob Todd does nothing that AD asks out in the summer, and then Jeanie is forced to decide between keeping our big star or hiring an actually good general manager that isn’t afraid to do his job. Really tired of this front office being all or nothing, championship teams can be made over time, but not if you never make moves unless they “move the needle”.

pelinka's unwillingness to acquire another legit 5 after the lakers won a title with that exact same formula has to be one of the most mind boggling things in NBA history

Dynamics of power between Klutch and the FO . Pelinka rightfully doesn't want to give full control to Klutch .

This is one of the reasons the Lakers can't be great : the fighst for power within the organization and both parties share one glaring weakness : They'll never admit when they're wrong so they can't learn from it and improve .

Well Drummond was a Klutch move so here we go again with Klutch vs Pelinka .

After that they went cheap with the C position

    ok, i'll tell it again.

we DID address the center position after the title, signing marc gasol (considered a steal at the time, and he was good until he got hurt) and montrezl harrell (who had a very good year as the backup center!). we even (stupidly) signed drummond. we were trying to play centers.

then the russ trade happened. we had to go cheap on centers because we only had the freaking vet min to fill out most of the roster. we had to go cheap everywhere.

this is where AD's argument falls to pieces, of course, as he was one of the primary architects of the trade that caused our inability to get good centers.

a lot of the vet min centers we pined for (bismack and gorgui, never forget!) didn't pan out for their teams. turns out that vet min centers are meant for 12mpg spot duty.

i agree with pioneer that having AD making this statement two weeks before the deadline does nothing to help us. he could have pressured the front office internally. doing it this way actually hurts his chances, imo. chicago just upped the ask for vuc, i can tell you that.

these guys need to stay out of FO business. you'd think they'd have learned it by now.

and for the crowd ready to fire rob for the zillionth time over this, the only center that's moved is nick richards, who went for an expiring and three seconds. we didn't have an expiring and three seconds because we moved ours for a coveted wing--a move that people were happy with.

i'm pretty sure we're actively trying to get a center. the messaging in the press that we were ready to stand pat was meant to help negotiating position, and i'm sure it's what rob had been telling other front offices. but that's undone when your star players come out with this crap.

I couldn't have said it any better. Word by word what I think and addresses all the relevant points:
    - we addressed it the year after the title and I don't understand why people forget it, if it's for argument convenience or lack of NBA knowledge
    - Russ move made it impossible (THANKS AD!!)
    - this is a stupid thing to do because it makes a move 100x worse

It pisses me off how players think they are greater than their teams. I'm all for player empowerment, but there's a reason why there are players and GMs and your actions should help the franchise.

Any team that gets a call by Rob asking for a center just ups its price immediately, every single team. And it's not like we are have tons of assets. That's what AD got from this take, really smart.

I would start putting Bronny (he has trade value because of the buzz around him) in negotiations for a center and then present it to Bron and AD to see if they want to win it that hard

If he wasn't Kobe's buddy, he wouldn't get the job in the first place. This mom and pops shop, friends and family, cozy atmosphere BS needs to stop. I hate what a joke this franchise has become :(
As for centers. Bron was giving up money for Jonas. Now Vuc can be traded for Rui and a pick or whatever. Give big, white guys a chance...
