That's why their doubling and packing the paint. Gotta make outside shots to make them pay

Slept walked through the first half but outstanding in the second half. Great to see him come alive!

Please repeat this 2nd half performance against Embiid… we’d all love to see it.

He usually is up to the challenge against better big men of the league

He took them to school in the second half. Going away from double teaming him every time was a huge mistake.

Really like the number of shots and where he was getting those shots. The second half aggression got us the W. And this wasn't like going against an undersized Collins in Utah; Cavs have twin towers with Mobley and Allen. Didn't phase him.

he ALWAYS punishes teams that don't double. i honestly can't believe it when teams don't employ that strategy against us all game long. do you just want to lose?

He does this against the league's best big men for some reason he doesn't do it all the time against teams that have literally no bigs (dallas for instance)

I want to see him dominate AND shut down Embiid on Monday. After the dud he put up against Jokic on opening night he needs a statement win with a dominant 30=15-3-3 type of game.

dallas committed to the double, right down to the bitter end. AD noted in the postgame after cleveland that we ran plays to get him into better spots, something we don't often do for whatever reason.

embiid and jokic are tough matchups (probably the only ones) for AD because of their combination of size and skill. they can take him away from the basket defensively, which sucks for us. and their teams have better defenders around them, so they get help on AD's faceups and get to stay in the paint, partly because AD's not a shooter.

Well..it's been a great match-up in their last 3 games.
AD 28pts 11 rebs and 2 blks .. Embiid 30pts 9rebs 1.3 blks. It's definitely not been some kind of mismatch at all.

oh yeah, i wasn't saying he can't play with those guys, just that they're uniquely difficult matchups, hence the mvp votes.

Embiid and Jokic both have excellent footwork on offense too. I wish AD could emulate some of that.

And I bet Nuggets and Sixers fans wish their star could defend like AD.

Honestly I think AD is a better fit next to Lebron than those 2.

I don’t understand why AD can’t consistenty hit short distance Js. Behind the arc sure not everyone can but those short ones should be like layups for him with his form and he could get those most whenever he wants if he didn’t hesitate.

AD had a dominant game last night but now I’m bracing for the drop off tomorrow against Philly. That’s his pattern now. I feel like his new nickname should be A/D.

I think his bad performances are a bit overblown. He's had like maybe 4 bad games out of 17 games played. So maybe once every 4 games.

he used to hit the midrange j at a pretty decent clip, but he got worse and gradually took fewer of them. he recovered to career averages last year but has been really bad from long midrange (16-23ft) this year for some reason. most would say to avoid those shots anyway, but he has to keep defenses honest, and he probably has a better chance from there than from three. that said, ham's offense doesn't really want anyone in those spots, which is crazy to me as the elbow area is where his two stars are at their most dangerous, imo.

i've pointed this out many times to no avail. you can't put up averages like his if you're as inconsistent as everyone swears he is.

yeah, especially because lebron has slowed considerably as a defender. also, lebron doesn't need to be playing with a guy who prefers to operate in the low post on offense.

lebron and AD are a great fit, and that's why we got a ring out of the pairing. had they been healthier, we might have another. at this point, they need more help, though. ideally someone like russell who's a) more consistent and b) a better defender. but that's a tall order.
