Rob didn't overpay, he paid less than Mini did for Gobert. AD didn't have as involved of an injury history at the time and was probably the best 2-way player in the league. It was a genius move on Rob's part which included him getting David Griffin to repair our relationship with the Pels owner which, FYI, sucked. Saying otherwise is just hindsight GMing, anyone can do that.

And it's not season-ending, let's stop that, we would know by now because something would be torn or broken. He certainly wouldn't be walking around with no support.

I actually don’t think the front office got robbed on the AD deal at all. When you look at what guys like Gobert and PG went we actually made good on that trade.

I think it’s more the rare deal where both teams ended up benefiting from it.

 

Since I have ZERO trust in our medical team, it can be ANYTHING, including ingrown toenail he hit Jokic with.

i don't think it's a good sign. my guess is they're contemplating surgery.

if it's lisfranc, which seems quite possible, the minimum time he'll miss is a couple months, and even then, he'd probably be rushing back and reinjure it. if it's surgery, it's like a year before you're whole and you may not recover fully.

when people just kind of shrugged off holmgren's injury, i was like...whatever makes you feel better, i guess.

btw, if they are contemplating surgery, they should probably just do it. having AD on a timetable to return this year could just make him miss a bunch of next year.

I've read other articles and they are roughly saying the same in terms of recovery time. Initial recovery is 3 months and return to sports would be anywhere between 6 months to 1 year, maybe even more.

 

A Lisfranc fracture occurs when there are either torn ligaments or broken bones in the midfoot area of one or both feet.

Torn ligaments or broken bones, this would have been discovered by now. That's what an MRI is for folks.

 

right. no one has publicly discussed the results of the MRIs. so we don't know.

there are injuries you can walk around with but not play sports with. i threw my back out something fierce a while back. a couple weeks later, i could walk, but i still couldn't play basketball today, 7 months later.

pretty sure i tore my meniscus a couple years before that and sorta just kept on with regular activities, too.

i don't think the boot/non-boot thing tells us much.

i'll hope for the best, though. AD deserves to continue his fantastic season.

 

So you think they would withhold that info from the public only to later disclose it with no good reason for having had withheld it? Seems awful damn strange to me. And knowing that he has a lisfranc fracture, they'd have him walking around with no protection, even though treatments for even a mild lisfranc in the foot require crutches?

 

lisfranc is just one possibility. my point is that you can have injuries that don't allow you to play basketball but allow for a host of other activities, including walking without much pain or risk of damage.

hopefully, you're right. lisfranc and navicular stress fractures typically involve a quick boot, i think. the absence thereof could be construed as positive, but it's not definitive.

 

Continuing to travel with the team and getting treatment instead of preparing for surgery has got to be a good sign right?

This lack of transparency is getting pretty annoying though…

 

I really think AD will be back in a couple of weeks. The body language and vibes he's giving off, don't portray a guy looking at season ending surgery, or even somebody expecting to miss a month of action. We shall see, but I wouldn't be shocked if a month out, was the worst case scenario. not shutting it down for the season.

 

If it IS something more serious, the organization isn’t doing AD any favors with the vague reporting.

He already has a bad reputation of being injury prone, so you can’t have him miss multiple months for something labeled as “soreness”, especially with the video of the injury looking relatively tame.
