i realize it's private medical info, but i'd rather just hear nothing or everything, tbh. they obviously saw something on the MRI that's going to keep him out. just say that. and say they need to seek multiple opinions on it before establishing time tables.

i think a principal failure of modern society is not trusting your audience enough to level with them. yes, lots of people are dumb. but nobody's forgiving when they've discovered you've misled them, even if for a good reason.

now i'm talking about other stuff.

The other thing I don't get is if it's a severe injury, why did he continue to play? I get it's in hindsight, but knowing his history, wouldn't that just aggravate the injury more? The medical team has some explaining to do

you can't know in the moment. plus, AD's gotten to hear the "streetclothes" bs from all angles for years now, so he's going to try to gut it out to prove a point.

sounds like the medical team heard enough from him at half time to shut it down. they know something went wrong in the foot again.

again, just don't like that it's the foot. that's bad for bigs.

He might have told them he's good and tried to tough it out. He gets mocked so much for his injuries he probably didn't want to come out. I can see him just downplaying his injuries to the training staff thinking he can eventually walk it off, until noticing the discomfort isn't going away.

Definitely think AD wanted to gut it out.

Yeah. I’ll say it again. I just want to see us start putting together a real roster that doesn’t have to be completely overhauled each year.

We have a chance to do that this offseason with the cap space, but FO will probably want a third star, not that we'll get one. I think we'll have a bit under 30 million to play with.

I’m holding out hope for multiple solid role player but I do think we will star chase.

this probably may be a hot take, but not really when we've had years of dealing with AD's injuries: I may be in the minority, but I'd be open to trading him in the summer regardless of performance until the end of the season, and especially if he ends the season on a high.

there's no question he is a top 5 player in the league when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough to be a winning franchise centerpiece.

remember that even in the bubble he was playing through injury at the end.

also the older he gets, the worse his injury problems are likely going to be.

if there is another franchise ready to take the gamble on him and offer us 3-4 FRPs + a young star, I would snap their hand off.

This was my thought originally too, then I was reminded that he's a Kltuch client and also the Lakers are usually not in the trade away stars business.

We'll be lucky if AD plays 50 games this season. Having played 40 last season and 36 the season before, all this during the absolute peak prime years of his career, if you extrapolate this you can see where we are headed with him as our "centerpiece" as we head into 30+ years-of-age time. He is as fragile as they come, Bill Walton, Greg Oden, it wouldn't be so bad if we tried to see what we can get for him come summer time assuming he finishes the year out healthy, I mean, enough is enough. Hang onto the FRPs. Move on, much as I hate to say it.

yeah, any trades we make hopefully allow that. and AD doesn't have to be moved to make that work. again, the clippers have a great roster construction that we could emulate. keep the team afloat, hope your two injury-prone stars are available at the right times.

This is just awful. It's mind-boggling, really. You pretty much have to factor in AD not being able to play significant number of games... and any type of contact can potentially result in an injury.

Worse is the self-inflicted nature of this injury. AD kicks out and into Jovic's body for no apparent reason other than seeking to draw a cheap foul and paid a heavy price. A horrible present this Christmas for all Laker's fans.

I knew to expect the worst from AD back when he resigned an extension instead of holding on and waiting to resign for the next and largest tier of salary which would have net him tens of millions more. At that time he said he opted for the lower deal because he knew his body's injury history and he wanted to be safe. He had no faith in his own body.
