Well, at the the time, they were all free agents and weren't under contract; and secondly, their doing it in Miami and not in Los Angeles.

AD is under contract and Rich is trying to force his way here to the Lakers; the perception and dynamics are completely different; is it unfair? Yes. However, my point is; did Rich Paul consider that dynamic before he tried to implement his plan?

My idea is simple just not confident it can get done but you just give out a 1yr MAX deal to say Boggie Cousins in the off season....then when AD is a FA we reounce Cousins rights and hope to have clear up enough space to give him Cousins 20mill/yr for like 2 seasons and then give him a max deal to finish off his career. AD gets to play with James and boggie.

Kanter is expiring and KP is coming off major injury with no guarantee to stay. If he doesn't like NY success, why would he think the winning culture in NO was any better? Can't see it.

Pels what that 2019 pick. They ain't getting it if it's #1. No way in hell Knicks trade KP + Zion for AD. Not sure that Knicks would trade KP + #2 (reddish) for AD.

Great post. Not to detract from your very good points, but the greater NO area exceeds $1m in population, putting it in the same range as OKC, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Indianapolis, and others. Point is, a "small market" town can put together a competitive team, with the right folks in the FO. [Note I said "competitive" not "profitable" that is a different yardstick.]

All of the above teams are competitive. In the past, small market teams like Memphis, Sacramento, Portland and Utah have been at the top of the league as well.

What is the common denominator? FO talent- the ability to draft well, trade well, shop the buyout market, scout overseas and play the salary cap are the keys. NOP has largely and consistently failed at all of those.

Ironically, big market + big revenue does not necessarily= success, at least in the NBA. The Knicks and Bulls both consistently turn profits, and havent done much in the last 20 years.

Hope this means Pels couldn't get assurance from c-bags that Tatum will be included in any deal in the summer and that Knicks aren't giving up that 2019 pick.

I'll be at Lakers/Boston a week from today, aka the deadline. I'd be okay if we only have like 8 players available.

For nostalgic purposes I just want to say...

    DO IT, MITCH!

It could be that the fear of losing Kyrie is real. Boston would then have to gut their young assets to bring in AD. Then what? You risk losing them all for nothing if AD is true to his word about being a rental. Boston would literally set fire to all of the player/pick cumulation they've done over the past 5-7 years.

I think we need to keep 4,5, and 6, so I'd actually be ok with that. It's steep, but those 3 fit needs.

I really think the NBA reaction was unprecedented. Many superstars have voiced their discontent with their teams forcing trades and not one of them have been fined for it that I know of. Why does the fact that it was AD's agent make any difference in getting a slap on the wrist, a fine and an investigation? I think it's complete BS.

Great news that the Demps isn't picking up the phone is garbage. If we can make this happen it's just massive. I don't care who we give up at this point, just get it done.

Most hilarious thing I've seen recently. And people wonder why I'm not a Woj fan.

No, Bosh was literally traded for two first round picks and a trade exception to Miami. Talk about an unfair deal. That would've meant to late round picks because Miami was going to be good and empty cap space...

NO could end up with a mostly former Laker lineup

    Ball
    Holiday
    BI
    Kuzma
    Julius

they'd actually be fun to watch, be in the budget, and win some games. If NO thinks they will do better than our young crew, I think they are mistaken.

It's great our draft team has done such a great job. We have an embarrassment of riches in young players. and if we are "only" left with Hart, Zubac, Wagner, Bonga, etc, we are going to be ok.

It probably means Rich Paul told Ainge to eff off and he ain't staying there no matter what. So Ainge probably reduced his package to Brown, Smart and a few first round picks.

He wouldn't be stupid enough to give up Tatum to rent AD. Look whats happening with Kyrie, he's about to bounce too.

Just because someone you dont like says something that's true, doesnt mean I like them now. Ainge is right. Same execution, but on different sides of the spectrum.
