He looked fantastic, much more like the AD of old, attacking his man as soon as he got the ball and getting to the free throw line repeatedly. The shooting can come and go, but as long as he plays with purpose I have nothing to complain about, it’s all I ever want to see. He IS that good, all I want is for him to act like it, 28 points in one half, noice.

points are always nice. He scored 18 in 21 minutes because the other two big dogs were out. But 3 rebounds? 6th on the team in boards?

I think we all hope for more on that side of the ball. To be fair, since I haven't watched, the scheme could be contributing, but I was surprised to see that. But I do think in AD's world, that was a perfect game. Lots of points, very little banging.

Nancy Kerrigan wail, "Whyyyyy?" We picked up a couple pretty useful in different ways centers so fragile AD doesn't have to put his body at risk every game as much. Maybe just in key crunch time situations. So now we're again going to go away from that?

Offensively, it's different when he's at the 5 and he's utilized a bit differently in this system. Optimizes spacing for LBJ and Westbrick, too.

I get the concern, though. The wear and tear, the banging, etc. Idk. Look great yesterday, though. Lol.

I guess it depends on who we are playing. I noticed that we've played Jones and Bryant together a lot. Gabriel has played with all 3 other bigs. I imagine that it's going to be a fluid situation from game to game who starts. Who finishes is more important. Personally I like Gabriel is a nominal starter at 4 (ala Javale) with AD at 5. Wenyen might end up playing less than Bryant or Jones even if he started.

Maybe his wrist really was injured last season? His shot looks back to where it used to be.

Dominated GS in that first half against a team that has some size up front. If he can do that consistently and stay on the court, he's an elite unicorn. The bad: after the game, he said his back had some tightness.

Back issues don't magically disappear and this is only pre-season. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

It's the preseason, I never expected AD, Lebron or Russ to play in all the preseason games. He didn't look like he had any back issues to me.

AD starting at 5 would make me question our summer pickups a bit, as we seemed pretty intent on adding playable centers. also, you can't play AD and lebron up a position with three small guards for heavy minutes. to close halves: definitely. do it all the time. but to start halves, i think i want a bigger lineup.

i trust that ham knows what he's doing, though.

It's more about how much he plays strictly at 5. Starting out the game like that, doesn't mean that he's going to log most of his minutes at that position.

no, but it means he's playing those minutes against the biggest guy on the opposition, which is where the wear and tear comes from, imo.

It depends on the matchup, if the opposing 5, is of similar size, that shouldn't be an issue.

teams don't usually change starting lineups unless a playoff series or injury in the regular season dictates it.

i don't think we can be like, we're playing memphis tonight, so jones is starting.
