big guys don't score 40+ points very often. even the current big stars that are putting up video game numbers. again, everyone's complaining about AD's offense when he's putting up pretty big numbers on that end, despite the shooting dropoff. we need him to bring more energy defensively and literally show up for 65 games. if he recovers his shooting touch, cherry on top. we can win without it, though.

It's June. Lakers are out of it and coming off a bad season particularly AD.

AD has probably has this same routine all of his career.

I'll bet you nobody even remembers this comment in a month or two from now.

I'm not attempting to justify what he said; it was dumb. But in the grand scheme of things? We have more pressing issues than AD.

We should be more up in arms about the hell everybody was in-love with Ball and let Tatum go.

Or how the heck mostly everybody wanted WB and we traded away good assets to grab a declining player.

Or how we let Caruso walk away? Etc etc etc. But let's sit here and talk about how AD hasn't touched a basketball for 2 months.

Oh I definitely won't argue with you on that. There are bigger issues. I just normally defend AD, but I can't on this one.

You won't remember this in August.

We'll be complaining about the roster.

Those 3 things happened last year/many years ago. Why the hell would we be going through that now?

Those things still effect us "arguably", right?

Tatum has blossomed, WB is still on the roster, and Caruso is kicking a** in Chicago.

Those things are of more importance, too. Remember the things we messed up and we hope don't happen again.

I'm much more concerned about those things as a fan, but that's just me.

yeah, i think there's nothing that can be done about those other things. they were horrible and are over. AD's declining shooting is ongoing and correctible.

i mean, if anything, we know the front office overcorrects, so you don't have to worry about any of those things repeating! we'll offer reaves the max! we'll draft any scoring forward we see! we'll trade stars for role players!

Honestly, I'm still optimistic that we are going to pull off a deal for Westbrook (and/or THT, a future pick, etc) that helps the team along with an under the radar signing or two. It's tough but I gotta believe the back channel wheeling and dealing is playing out.

And to be clear, I don't think we necessarily have to package everything to move Westbrook. There is a angle here where we might be able to maximize each one of our handful of assets and make some nice moves to make the team better.

Nothing's guaranteed but I'm hoping for the best right now.

yeah, last year was terrible and is coloring everyone's opinions (including mine). but the two previous years were quite successful, imo, filled with largely good moves. we're in a deep hole, but i think lebron's out of the driver's seat (and magic's gone) and we have more opportunities to improve than the national press wants to admit.

and to get back to the thread: i have to believe that AD will stop being unlucky and landing on people's feet and that his shooting will regress to his career mean.

    That's what I'm saying.

That's where we need to be concerned and see improvement.

The FO is a glaring issue.

Was listening to a YouTube - THT and Kendrick bring about 19 million back.

He was throwing out ideas about a high-level initiator: Fournier and Bogdonovic (spelling) for instance.

He mentioned how a high level IQ initiator can help AD out and less the load, etc.

i wanted bogdanovic for years, but he just had knee surgery, right?

i only want fournier if it means the knicks are taking russ, and i think they already shot us down. i actually think randle/fournier for westbrook solves some problems for both teams, too. we could start randle with lebron and AD and be almost fully switchable on the back line.

Believe he did. He's had knee issues.

    Wouldn't mind that Russ deal.

Those are basically the types of things my brain is tossing around. Multiple moves that bring together a group of guys that actually fit together and are in line with Ham's vision for the team.

he should average 25/10/2blks on a slow season with all that talent IMHO.

He's just out of excuses for most fans. When you compound not being available due to injury with bragging how long it's been since you worked at your craft, it obviously doesn't resonate well with fans.

Yep, we are different. I prefer to discuss the present and future, things we can actually change.
Things that happened so long ago, were already discussed extensively and there's nothing we can do about it don't interest me. Each one with his own thing I guess

so...you're mad about 2 points? because he averged 23/10/2 in his crappy season that has everyone claiming he sucks. and his scoring decline can be traced pretty easily to declining FGAs since he left NO.

I should have added a caveat of his availability as a factor.

    And his body language

    And his consistent effort

And getting outmuscled by little guys

    And his unibrow

I suggest shaving his head, his eyebrows, and live in the gym. Prove to them you are uber focused, or just ask for a trade. Or retire. with that kind of effort he gave last year part time, what's the difference? It clearly didn't translate to any wins.

on a random night in december, richuan holmes definitely wants it more than AD does. but when they both want it equally, it gets embarrassing. this is why we employ him. so few guys can bring it every night. people invoke kobe, who is the exception that proves the rule. and i know it's not cool to say, but he was kind of a psychopath (like mj). AD's a normal guy who's very good at basketball. you can't ask people to dig down where there isn't anything. but again: that's like 97% of nba players, including lebron.
