Yes, this true. It would signal a rebuild and usually when you go that route, you get fleeced in the initial trade see OKC trading PG to the Clippers.

I think those of us who are ok with trading AD are basically saying we are ok with starting a full rebuild and understand that could mean potentially years in the wilderness (Ingram/Zo/Randle/Clarkson/DLO part 2), but it could also potentially get us the next Luka or Ja Morant. I prefer that over being mired in mediocracy, which I see with AD being the #1 option.

My point is that entertaining "trading AD" shouldn't be as insane as it's being made out to be.

ja morant and luka haven't advanced in the playoffs yet, and you're assuming that we get a good pick (which means we sucked) and that there's a player of that caliber available.

i think it's insane. i'd rather wait and see if he gets healthy (and look foolish if he doesn't) than trade him and look foolish no matter what. the reason star trades suck for the team sending is that you almost never get anyone who's ceiling is at the same level as the guy you're losing. and those guys are also REALLY hard to get in FA--especially if you don't already have one at that level under contract.

the whole point is to have an AD-level player under contract. giving that up makes no sense.

Shifting this discussion in a different direction, this is why I’m actually hopeful that maybe even AD’s injury won’t end up being as bad as it looks.

One other thing about him is that he DOES seem to have a low tolerance for pain. So although the bend looked bad and AD was writhing around in pain, that doesn’t necessarily mean the damage to the ligaments in the ankle end up being as bad as the worst case scenarios.

Maybe I’m just delusionally hopeful though

Maybe we can trade AD to the Bulls for Derozan and Caruso. That would make some folks around here happy.

Yes, ankle injuries are very common in basketball, but nobody will every convince me that AD is not injury prone. There is no denying the fact that the guy has missed a lot of games since becoming a Laker. The last two seasons have been completely derailed, largely in part to AD and LeBron getting sidelined by injuries.
    It’s nothing personal.
    It’s just the facts.

I seethe thought police are out in full force.
I don’t see any badges, and even if I did, they hold no weight in an arena based on OPINIONS.

Absolutely. This is pretty common in sports, there are people that are just more prone to injuries. Even within our friends we have people like that when you play sports. In soccer is highly common. I even have a case in my family related with this.
Kobe for example was a rock. He would play with tons of injuries just because he had such a strong body. He would get knocked and just shake it and be ready for next time. I saw players, in soccer, actually getting better in managing this through conditioning and specific physical work.

It always baffled me AD's body language and presence in court. You can't see his skin, he's all wrapped up. Legs, arms, shoulders. Then everytime there's a hit, he either falls or limps a bit, even when he's healthy. I guess he's just a guy who can't stand physical contact. It's a pitty, he could dominate the game

He was a little guy that had a super late growth spurt. I imagine that has something to do with him having joint issues at times.

I still feel like AD + Lakers + cap room will be enticing to guys once LeBron and Russ are off the books.

as I said a few days back, I just have no confidence in our ability to build through the draft. I like our chances of luring a Morant type of player here much more than our ability to draft and nurture that kind of player.

That's a great point, he was indeed, hence the guard skills. Could definitely contribute to this

The thing is that we never know because only the franchise who own him could conduct such studies. And they, in this case us, would be the last ones to want this to be known because all the trade value would be gone. So it will always be one of those things

Yeah, I'm not giving him excuses for falling down every time down the court.

    No mercy. Hell....Sweep the leg!

    We will.

And whether we support AD, want to trade him, whatever; he needs to stay upright next season and be a top 5 player heading into the summer of 2024. IMO.

We need to be an enticing destination, and he's the main part of that.

I just seen the injury and Frank checking on Anthony; I swear Frank's expression said, "welp, I'm fired."

Uh… so is “mid-foot” another word for “ankle”? I’ve never seen that injury designation before.

AD his missed half the season basically each of the last two years why would any elite player want to play with a guy that cannot stay healthy?

Frankly there aren't many elite duos anywhere, that seem to have both guys healthy for long stretches of the season lately . I guess Milwaukee but I wouldn't put Middleton up there with a Lebron or AD.

    Fair question.

I'm choosing to be optimistic and hope he'll get healthy and we'll land another Max guy.

    Could I be wrong? Absolutely.

But I love the suspense. :).

    We will see.
