He needs to hit a good % of the shots he easily gets one way or another …. assisted by others or from his own creation “consistently”. They’re typically not difficult shots, with all the Js he gets off. And if guys bigger than him like Lopez and Gasol can hit 40% or around there …. if he’s going to shoot from deep too a lot then put the work in, since he has what seem to be good mechanics on his shots from out there and midrange jumpers.

He definitely needs to at least get back to his career average from 3. He shot a putrid 26% last year. THT had a better percentage from 3 and we all know he sucks as a 3 point shooter.

or just not take them. or only take them from the spots he hits from (haven't looked at shot charts). AD was a dominant force in the league back when he didn't take many threes, and there's no reason he couldn't still be.

our issue has partly been that even at his bad percentage, he's a better option to take threes than many of the guys we play. we were supposed to have fixed that this summer, but early results were a bit scary.

I haven’t looked at the individual preseason games but I’d be surprised if most of our guys aren’t making 1 out of every 4 threes they take which is basically what AD shot last year. So I wouldn’t consider that a better option. I do agree he should take less if not hitting them but Russ and Bron to a lesser degree, need the paint open.

AD should just stick with the corner 3 where he is great. He doesn't get there enough though.

Nice first game. Offense was strong. Defense was solid. Only fell down about 20 times.

Those FT's plus that Lebron heatcheck likely cost them the game taking into account everything else
Too bad because he looked pretty darn good out there

Probably shouldn’t be too critical on a 33 and 11 game on 15/26 shooting … but I’m going to nitpick and say I’m still a bit concerned.

He made a lot of mid range shots that have been iffy as of late. Obviously it’s great to see them go in, but much of his shot selection was the kind where I could see him miss many of those same shots the next game. Would like to see him be more aggressive in posting up and attacking, not settling for the step back midrange game.

I honestly thought he looked good most of the game. I expect him to shoot better from the line as the season continues. I do think he needs to cut back on threes.

Poor FTs shooting but maybe he've played his best game since the bubble ones.

C'mon Tony, bring us to the promise land!

yeah, it wasn't his very best game, but he played quite well. same with lebron on both counts. if those games from those two aren't enough to beat the thompson-less warriors at home, it's not good.

he does need to shoot fewer threes is he's going to stay in the 20s. at this point, his midrange shot is probably a higher return on efg%, which is why most people started encouraging bigs to step back. most bigs are bad from both spots, so you might as well get an extra point on the rare successful attempt! but AD is getting so bad from three that that's not true.

That is probably what I hated most about the game last night. That should've been enough to win and we couldn't pull it out. It's just one game but it was disappointing to waste a prime effort from our two big guns.

another way to look at it is that our big guns still have it, so if we can bring along the others, we can be quite good again.

AD still looks rusty to me. You can tell that he hasn't hooped much in the off-season since the bubble. His timing is still off some, that said...I'm expecting a monster..MVP caliber season out of him, once he gets clicking on all cylinders
