Our trade package can go 2 ways in my opinion:

First scenario: give them Kuzma, Zo, Zubac and 2 first round picks + cash.

Second scenario: Kuz, Ingram, Zubac and 2 first round picks+ cash.

Lakers are trying to keep at least 2 of the young core (this only works if AD specifically requests a trade to ONLY the Lakers.)

I would prefer we keep Lonzo because of his impact on any team.

    Zo
    Hart
    LeBron
    AD
    McGee

    That's an amazing defensive team.

Also KCP is kept so we can use his money to potentially do a sign a trade for another Star in the summer

The problem with NOP is that they are not a rationally run outfit. Gentry is hated by the fans, Demps is incompetent, football people run Demps and the owner is a failed business owner who met her now deceased husband at his previous wife's funeral. They need to decide on a full rebuild or something else.

If it were me, I'd sell at the deadline for as many picks as possible, except for AD. I'd play him sparingly until the end of the season, and get into the race to the bottom for draft position. Them I'd trade AD in the off season for the best combo of young players and picks I could get. In other words, I'd use the OKC model.

Yeah, the football dudes could be like, "We can all play that game. You can't intimidate us!"

To their own potential detriment of course, but if the Grandmother owner feels slighted, she could do the same. So far, AD has handled things very well.

    Couldn't agree more!

    The timeline is:
    Draft 6/20
Kyrie deciding on player option 6/29
Cbags deciding on QO to make Rozier a restricted FA 6/29
Free agency starts where Kyrie can get a new deal and the DPE blockage gets lifted 7/1

Unless a deal/understanding is in place before this summer's draft, Boston would be picking potential Pel picks in the dark. The Sac pick (projected to be mid teens), the cLip pick (projected to be in the 15-20 range) and Boston's own pick all look to be used on June 20th this summer. That means only the Griz pick appears to be remaining with them this year so Boston will likely have just that pick plus their own future picks to offer in trade discussions past this summer's draft. We all know, picks depreciate once the selection is made and then traded.

Then there is Rozier and any RFA Boston projects to have...those players are likely not part of any trade discussions, cause you can't trade those players once you match an offer sheet or extend them till Jan 2020. Nawlins could wait all the way till 2020's trade deadline to move AD, but that would be such a bad look on their part.

That only leaves Tatum as Boston's ace in the hole. Look at how Danny approached the Kyrie trade...his one valuable piece was the BK pick (which became 8th overall). Kyrie had 2 yrs remaining on his deal and that's all he really gave up for Kyrie. AD will have 1yr remaining and it's already rumored that Boston isn't a place he wants to be traded to (otherwise why make the trade demand now, when Boston is the only bidder that can't participate...that's a huge tell).

The ever so stingy Ainge is expected to offer a godfather deal when he never did it for potential cornerstone Kyrie...and never did it for Paula, Kawhi or Butler. I see oh boy giving up the Grizz pick along with Jaylen Brown as the core of the package...that's it. And Demps will then pivot and hope our package won't depreciate as a result.

The media needs to sell a story, but #LAD is going to happen one way (now) or another (2020). Obviously we prefer it to be the former and I'm confident it will cause Rich Paul is the Messiah...just ask Rob.

AD and Klutch need to comenup clutch here. Boston has a card up their sleeve though, they can come out and say all their cards are on the table if you wait until summer, indirectly saying they are willing to deal Tatum.

Still nerviously optimistic but there are more ways this can go wrong than ways this can go right.

I would not trust Ainge one bit, but that's me. I would like NOP to get screwed but C Bags. Get some s***ty deal from some team and then watch AD sign with us anyways.

I hope Lavar and funkyass shot are enough to dissuade NOP from asking for Ball.

    Fingers crossed.

this will be PG 2.0 if klutch and AD don't come out publicly and say he only wants to play for the lakers

i really think that's the only way we land him. if not, NO will deal him somewhere else and he'll probably re-sign with them after starting a romantic relationship with one of his new teammates like PG did

The last part with KCP isn't realistic nor is it going to work as per your thinking....we only own KCP early bird rights so he can only be SnT at a certain salary lvl based on our current cap and 2ndly who in their right mind going to want KCP on a multi yr in the double digit million range?

The new NOP owner is a widower for less than a year and based on her January 5th quotes, spiteful is probably the furthest thing you can describe her as.

SA was spiteful in trading Kawhi to the farthest place from "home". But then again, Kawhi willingly distanced himself from the franchise.

AD's been a good soldier and in the last few years, he has had to endear through a roster overhaul of 30 players. Nawlins had their chance...If they're going to be spiteful, that's a terribly bad look for them and their new owner.

As for Boston and their chance this summer...let's deep dive into their books.

Salary matching is kind of a crapshoot for any NOP/Boston trade. Boston will not have much, if any at all, operational capspace to work with in making a trade go through. They'd need a 3rd team to dump salary on. Meanwhile the Lakers woukd have sufficient capspace to grease any trade through.

Horford has a 30.1m player option that needs to be decided on by June 29th. If he opts in, he can be traded in an AD deal, but know that Nawlins isn't some thriving organization...if they take back Horford's expiring deal then the most AD by himself (27.1m) can bring back in trade is about 34m. If you add Jaylen Brown and/or Tatum, NOP would need to add more salary with either Twaun or Solomon for it to work.

But Horford is 33 and might be looking for one last cash grab in a summer projected to be thriving with half the league sitting on at least 20m+ in capspace. If he opts out and NOP is looking to dump salary in an AD trade, then Hayward or Smart would have to be involved for the salaries to match up...and obviously that's counterproductive if Nawlins is intending to shed salary in an AD deal (as they should).

So bottomline: a package centered around the aggregated 14m of Brown/Tatum along with future picks ain't going to get a deal done for AD salary-wise if the intent of Nawlins is to shed salary within that deal. If Horford opts out, the Cbags are f***ed. Hayward's contract is too much for a small market team to take in and although Smart's contract is reasonable, his 3 years remaining vs Twaun/Solomon's expiring deals makes no sense for Nawlins to take on if they're looking to get off salary.

I wonder if this "lonzos camp wants a third team involved" nonsense is actually a leak by the lakers, not lavar, to dissuade NO from asking for Ball, hinting that he won't be happy playing for you?

Even if they did, it wasn't Kawhi who said that.
If im AD, first media question about this situation "im signing with the Lakers only. Im no Paula, no Cp2, no Kawhi". Calmly walks away...

klutch telling the league the lakers are AD's "preferred destination" doesn't mean crap

just come out and say LA or nothing. if not, he'll be dealt to some random team like the pacers

yea, I dont see AD doing anything like that, Pelicans already trying to file tampering charges against Rich Paul and possibly even the Lakers....just asking for that "ban hammer" from the league's front office if that happens IMO

On what grounds? NBA can't stop a player from signing with a team he wants to. They can deal for him and enjoy his services for a season and a half.

the league can ban AD from signing with LA or can punish LA with removing of picks if they can find anything relating to tampering...we already have 1 strike against us.

the league can prevent him from becoming a laker for no reason at all as we saw with the cp3 veto

seeing a small market team potentially dealing a top 3 player in the league to the big market lakers is probably making silver and the rest of the league furious. they'll try anything to force NO to deal him to a team like the bucks or hornets
