Trying to figure out how to retort to

"AD hurt his butt crapping bigger than BI. discuss."

    without saying anything about BI.

it's clear you missed the purpose there.

anyway, AD is probably the nba's best two-way player this year, as he has been for many, many years. but he's only 26. isn't that GREAT?

    i think it's great.

Kobe ain’t trying to hear this. If it ain’t broke, get out there.

After AD signs his $200M+ contract, I’m expecting mamba toughness going forward. No more 10 injury reports a year.

To be fair, he’s played through almost every nagging injury he’s had so far. Kobe was always hurting, but he played. AD has played 35 of 37 games, which to this point I honestly didn’t expect, so I will take that for sure.

as long as there isn't obvious risk of greater injury by playing on it, i'm not against him playing. any risk at all, though, and i want him sitting. i think a bruised glute can be managed (though you probably lose some explosiveness, i don't think you risk tearing it by playing--not an orthopedist, though). but if he's got a sore knee or sprains an ankle, or had this been a sacral bruise--i'd be calling for rest and lots of it.

I think if he can handle the discomfort he can play. We'll see. I'm relieved it's nothing more serious. Painful, yes, but not debilitating.

It just baffles my mind that people think we still overpaid for AD. Ingram is the only player that looks like he's not going to be a role player. And even then, he's probably a fringe All-Star who is putting up nice stats that are leading his team to possibly a 30 win season. So they are somewhat empty until proven otherwise. And let's be real, Ingram isn't doing this with us. He and Lebron overlap too much. So the best player we gave up in the trade is a lesser version of our best player (Lebron) and the other two guys (Hart and Ball) are decent role players. DeAndre Hunter (our pick) is pretty mediocre. The other picks will all be late firsts where if we kept them, we probably have a 50/50 shot at a decent rotation player. AD had some of the worst teams in the league constructed around him in the brutal Western Conference. Our current team has the second best record in the NBA because AD finally has at least one other all-star with him.

i think the clips would do it just to keep the lakers weak, but i think dallas would only do it if they thought it would help them contend this year. i think they've seen enough to know that this isn't their year for that, hence their lukewarm interest in iggy.

that said, if it took zero assets and it blocked his move to la, i'm sure they'd do it.

I wonder if I looked at the history of people's posts whether I'd read comments like Ingram is a bust... slowly rising to Ingram will be a decent rotation player nothing more, then Ingram will be a borderline starter... then Ingram will be a starter on a bad team... to Ingram will never average 20PPG... to Ingram only scores because he's on a bad team... to Ingram maybe makes an all star game... and now Ingram is a fringe all star player.

If people are so confident in the quality of the trade... why the need to say "fringe" Why not say that he will be an all star player? Doesn't that seem to be the natural arc considering his consistent progression from his horrible rookie year.

All stars scoring at 22 years old

    KD 27.7 PPG
    LBJ 27.3 PPG
    Ingram 25.3 PPG
    AD 24.4 PPG
    Giannis 22.9 PPG
    Russ 21.9 PPG
    Dirk 21.8 PPG
    Kyrie 21.7 PPG
    KAT 21.3 PPG
    DLo 21.1 PPG
    Blake 20.7 PPG
    Embiid 20.2 PPG
    Dame 19.0 PPG
    Curry 18.6 PPG
    Jokic 18.5 PPG
    Aldridge 17.8 PPG
    Kemba 17.7 PPG
    PG 17.4 PPG
    Beal 17.4 PPG
    Simmons 16.9 PPG
    Harden 16.8 PPG
    Klay 16.6 PPG
    Wade 16.2 PPG
    Vucevic 13.1 PPG
    Kawhi 12.8 PPG
    Khris 12.1 PPG
    Lowry 7.6 PPG

Ingram ranked 3rd of all the all stars last season in scoring at 22. How the hell is this fringe? What scientist would extrapolate that the 3rd highest scorer at 22 years old is a fringe all star. Even DLo who was a last minute addition ranks 9th among the list.

We drafted the 3rd and 9th highest scorers at 22... yet somehow people have determined that our draftees are fringe all stars who will never amount to anything.

Vucevic is an example of a "fringe" all star... Maybe Lowry who didn't average 20 points until he was 29 years old... but Ingram?

Come on guys... If you really believed the trade was so brilliant... why not call Ingram what he is... a future all star without the qualification.

If anything, unless Ingram regresses... at this point he's on a fringe hall of fame trajectory.

Some all time great players and scorers at 22

    Wilt 37.6 (Didn't play until 23)
    Dr. J 31.9 (ABA competition)
    Oscar 30.5
    Shaq 29.3
    Melo 28.9
    Kareem 28.8
    Kobe 28.5
    Elvin Hayes 28.4
Jordan 28.2 (he was hurt at 22 so I used his 21)
    KD 27.7
    LBJ 27.3
    Ingram 25.3
    Baylor 24.9 (Didn't play until 24)
    Admiral 24.3 (Didn't play until 24)
    Iverson 22.0
    Dirk 21.8
Duncan 21.7 (All around great game)
    Bird 21.3
    KG 20.8 (Elite defender)
    Hakeem 20.6 (Elite defender)
    Barkley 20.0
    Ewing 20.0
    Pierce 19.5
    Ray Allen 19.5
    Moses 19.4
    Magic 18.6 PPG 9.5 APG
    Vince 18.3
    Logo 17.6
    Nique 17.5
    Dantley 17.3
    Drexler 17.2
    Wade 16.2
    Mailman 14.9
Bill Russell 14.7 PPG 19.6 RPG (elite defender)
    Havlicek 14.3
    Reggie 10.0
    Parish 9.1
    Pippen 7.9 PPG (elite defender)
    Stockton 5.6
    Alex English 5.2

Even if I put a list of all time top scorers or all time players... Ingram still is in the top half of scorers at his age.

I'm not saying he'll ever be hall of fame quality... long way to go before he comes close but just in the trajectory of stats... that is where he trends.

And yes I understand that being great is much more than scoring... I'm using it just because almost all the all time scorers happen to be in the hall of fame as well.

Yet "fringe" all star? It doesn't make any sense. No need to denigrate BI's progression to prove one's point about the trade.
