If you put Ingram/Ball/Hart/#4 on our team with shooters and Dwight and Boogie... I think we'd be worse but still a playoff contender.
But deeper, younger, and more versatile for the future.

If you put AD with Jrue and injured Zion he would be below .500 also.

Let's see what happens in a few years... maybe I'll be wrong.

Funny how some "experts" are saying nobody said we gave up too much when the trade happened and it's only something made up by Lebron ...

or he's a big guy and not a penetrating wing or guard?

    well, silly discussion.

AD took worse to the playoffs, younger, as we've said many times and has been ignored many times.

Now if AD can do that 300 more times in a row, we might have a chance to win the trade.

Love that AD has gone from missing significant time being injured to merely b****ing and harping on about it, but not really missing much time. It
's like his injury has gone from aggressive aggressive to passive aggressive.

You can' make comparisons like this: It's not just put in Ingram/Ball/Hart/#4 it also takes out Green, KCP, Bradley, and Caruso. Rondo maybe doesn't play but he certainly did last year with the same lineup. The Lakers with AD and the guards are basically a defensive monster which NO is definitely not. Caruso who has been sensational with the highest defensive RAPM of any SG in the league can't get even more minutes because guys like KCP have also stepped up.

Plus because AD is so good with shooters around Lebron, the offense is better than last year's as well.

8 blocks is ok, i guess. but why didn't he score an efficient 25 points and pull down 10+ rebounds, too?

    oh, wait...

But we could have gone after someone like Jimmy or DLo and kept the majority if not all of the young assets.

No one including myself questions that AD is a great player... a top five player.

But as many have also pointed out, it's a perimeter player dominated league so his ultimate impact on winning a title is more supporting than leading.

LBJ who is doing great for his age but also clearly slowing it, is the factor whether we will win the title.

We would have lost AD's rim protection, but we could have had Jimmy, BI, Lonzo guarding the perimeter... a push in terms of defensive effectiveness

DLo I admit would be a lot iffier than Jimmy, but we'd still produce way more points with Ingram and DLo over AD by himself not to mention whatever #4, Zo and Hart would bring.

I never argued that we wouldn't be good this season. It's where we will be once LBJ declines. He's doing amazing and if he adjusts to become a purely Magic/Bird type player, then maybe he can last five years. If he wants to play like LBJ, in spite of his amazing alley oop last night... I think that time is coming to a close.

It's the future that worries me. This season should be pretty good.

I haven't seen any report that Butler was going to come to LA (Butler is close to Kyrie and Kyrie is Kyrie): he's also 30 so a max for him and Lebron would have been an issue.
BI is an awful defender: he looks like he should be good but he's never been good and he continues to suck on that end. This is exactly the situation you don't want to be in with Lebron. Two 30+ wings trying to play lockdown defense without rim protection

Plus how much are you willing to pay these guys: max out Lebron, BI, and Butler? Trade value for Ingram is simply not going to be as good while playing with those two as well (neither would Lonzo/Hart most likely) as he doesn't have a green light as he does now.

DLo: come on now that guy can't guard a musical chair. You need a guy like AD to make them.

in any case: you are shifting goal posts/argument. The point remains: you can't simply compare 1 player to 4 and not include the other players who have had an opportunity. Caruso and KCP seasons have easily been as good as Hart and Lonzo this year.
