    AD is a team player. love it. even if they fail to sign a kawhi, butler, or kyrie this is also a perfect chance to bring in guys like beverly, redick, etc

    i would assume AD waiving the trade kicker means the FO basically has a max player locked up

    just don't see him waiving it for any other reason

    I can almost hear it already: "Well yeah clearly Rob was able to figure out a way to get the max slot. The timing seems like they probably feel like they have a shot. I don't know that they do, I mean it just seems like from what we know so far they probably don't have anyone. But they sure feel like they do! Right? So we'll see I guess. I still think Kawhi comes down to Toronto or the Clippers, but he'll take a meeting for sure."

    We gave up a future 2nd to get it done which means we did in a way "scramble"...and I'm telling you, I love that narrative cause it means we have a 3rd max guy to come on board, otherwise there is no reason to make that type of move now.

    Let's say the moratorium ends and we trade AD FIRST then turn to sign our max free agent, we have 28.7m in cap space with Bron, AD (sans trade kicker), Kuz, Deng dead cap, THT, Caruso QO, Williams & Novell 2way contracts and 7 incomplete roster charges.

    If we sign max free agent FIRST by renouncing Caruso, then we have 32m in cap space and will use the aggregated 22.8m of Zo, Bi, Hart, Moe, Bonga, JJ to bring in AD + 1.5m in additional salary.

    If we keep Caruso's QO on our cap sheet, then we'll have 30.4m in cap space to go after a max free agent and then can complete the AD trade.

    So I'm assuming the Caruso QO was to show dude we wanted him and hopefully he re-ups once we renounce him...also it could also have shown the Wiz that they should take our deal, cause if not, then we were ready to go into free agency without a max slot by keeping Moe, Bonga, JJ add Caruso's QO on our books and we were fine with doing that.
