    Nah, we'd be short buddy.

Zo/Bi/Hart aggregate to 18m. If you add Moe/Bonga's aggregated 3.5m to the original package to get to 21.5m, forget the trade kicker, we'd still be short on AD's 27.1m salary unless we use some of our cap to absorb him.

If we don't use the 4th pick as salary in August or don't trade its caphold to get back about 6.2m in capspace...and if we want to keep Kuz, then Moe, Bonga and JJ have to be aggregated to the original package.

There is another way we can get close to max 31.8 or something like that if Davis WANTS to keep his trade kicker bonus is that we include Caruso's cap hold WITH Wagner, Bonga, and Jones going out as well. That's slightly tougher, but still manageable.

Problem is we have zero leverage. I think we can send out Jones to a third team without issue because he's not guaranteed and we can send out cash to incentive it. Wagner has some value, but Bonga...two years left on that deal. My guess is we'll have to send OUT 2nds to get the deal done. If we're scrambling to get rid of them, other teams know they can hold us over a barrel. We aren't getting anything for those guys.

If you don't renounce Caruso to include him an a S&t (which involves a whole other heap of obstacles like the hard cap, his RFA status, etc), then we're not at a place to have at least 32m in cap space.

For every guy that gets involved in a trade for AD to make the salaries match...they will take up some of the remaining 32m in cap we have. The only way they don't is if we complete the deal in August.

Well Mo/Bonga/Jones can be split among Pels and the 3rd team...I don't think we have to send all 3 to a third team do we? Man this is starting to hurt my head...

Also any side deals withstanding, if we bring in multiple teams to add to the AD trade all teams need to have their salaries "touch" each other to have a legal multiteam deal.

I'll leave it to Savs to interpret that "touch" part as he sees fit. I give you my consent.

Well, it will hinge on seeing if the Pelicans find a third team to take on the #4 as well, which we just latch on to the team to take those three as well. I think that might be the easiest route. I think if ATL trades the #8 and #10, getting the #4 can include those three as part of the trade. That really won't hurt them that bad.

If it ends up being a straight up trade with the Pelicans, Rob will probably push for the Pelicans to take Mo, Bonga, and Jones IF they want the deal completed July 6. Or they have to wait.

I trust Rob to have these contingencies in place before finalizing the trade.

You are correct there. Jones would be the guy that goes to the Pelicans because his salary is non-guaranteed. We could probably send 2 million to the Pels with him and they'd actually turn a profit. Then find a third team to take Wagner and Bonga. Send 3 million to that team to essentially pay for Bonga's deal and throw in a future second rounder to sweeten the pot so they take Wagner and Bonga?

It won't be the full 32, like I said, but it will be close.

I'm sure a max player wouldn't mind taking slightly less that could be made up in endorsements.

I think if we can get to $31.2M, that's better than $23M that's for damn sure.

I have faith that we can pull this off...I'm really hoping all these reports about us "forgetting" to take into account cap space and "calling Pelicans back" is just the media's last attempt at making the Lakers look bad...but I have a really bad feeling that it's true because even Tania from LA Times is reporting the same...UGH

The other stuff I don't buy, but everyone, even Laker loyalists, are saying we screwed this up. Like others have said, I think Pelinka is too smart for this and knows the cap too well. He's the same guy that got Deng to take a buyout at a low enough number that it allowed us to have almost to the dollar enough to sign KD this offseason. This strikes me as Kurt Rambis pushing his way in and forcing the deal through just to get it over with.

Could now be used as trade fodder if we expand the trade to involve more salary and if AD is willing to waive the kicker.
