christ. i thought nobody would ever go full BKN again. but we just out knight-ed them.

i mean, we got davis, which is enormous, but those picks being so far down the line and completely unprotected could mean some very sad years in the aftermath.

that said, bkn has actually recovered pretty nicely via good management. also, you can adjust your strategy in FA if it looks like you're going to be bad during those years (i.e., it's not hard to finish 10th instead of 15th).

If we can’t get Kyrie or Butler, I honestly hope we just pass on maxing out Kemba.

That $30 mil/season would be better spent by giving $10 mil each to Patrick Beverly, Danny Green, and depth at Center (Boogie Cousins, Brook Lopez, DeAndre Jordan?).

Who cares. We may get 2 or 3 rings during that time. That’s what these efforts are for anyways. That should hold Lakers fans over til the picks get back to normal.

C'mon.. Brooklyn's deal never even paid off in the short term..
If we add the right players & have success over the next 5 years, who cares about draft picks .. We already wasted 6 Years on Draft picks..
Besides, you can always acquire draft picks down the road.

In 2000-02 we did not really care for draft picks, same with 2008-10. We just need to be better than the Pels on the trade swap years.

The positive about this trade is when/if LeBron retires in 3 years, AD would be only 29 years old... and both the LeBron contract and the Deng-stretch would be gone; meaning another max slot opens up to pair AD with a running mate in 2023.

Which means ironically, if Brandon Ingram turns out to what we hope we would become... we can sign him lol

If the reports are true, seems like the Pelicans got the pick haul Griffin initially wanted...

I’m not too concerned about the draft picks. This deal had to get done, looks like they did what they had to do to make it happen. If we win a title or are at least contenders for the next 6 years at least no one will care.

Now: Leonard is probably pipe. As prickly as he is, Jimmy Butler...

    Giannis Antetokounmpo Summer 2021?

It’s tough to bet on that, Lebron is going to be 35+ from here on out and his best days are surely behind him. He has 2 post seasons left as a top 10 player rather than a top 3.

While AD is as injury prone as CP3 and you’ve seen what deep post season runs have done to his chances, they’ve just broken him down at the key moments. That third max we get is so critical and may be the difference between no rings or 1 or 2.

No doubt to me we are swinging for the fences like we did for Kobe when we signed Nash and Howard - and I’m good with it. But we’ve leveraged our future for the present.

Da Kang is happy...so there's that!

This isn't all that bad...but it isnt really good either.

This deal HAS to be completed in August, cause if this is official on July 6th, with this many picks out/swapped and about 25m in cap space...all to spare a 24y/o Kuz...it's not an overwhelming win for us, even if it's for AD.

One other note: we technically can trade the 2020 top 8 protected pick along with Kuz, as long as we make it unprotected to the other team, with 2022 rollover opportunity if it conveys to the Pels on either 2020 or 2021.

The swaps means that the Pels will get the better of LA/NO picks, but then we can take the lesser of the pick and still trade that in any further deals to round out the roster.

If we get a 2way wing like Kawhi or Butler, then round out the roster with dawgs now...Morris twins (who are Klutch) and P.Bev...im looking at you!

I’m super happy with the trade and who we got. We got a top 10 player in the NBA, a franchise altering talent and probably one of the top 3 trade targets to build a team with in the league.

I’m just not going to pretend that we didn’t give up a lot for him. I think this is the best haul any team has got for their star player recently.

It really boils down to that 3rd star.

If AD is the difference maker in landing Kawhi, this trade is a win of epic proportions. We essentially traded for 2 young superstars which equates to a dynasty. Even if it's Butler, that's 1 superstar + 1 allstar which is a win because we get a legitimate shot at a title for 2-3 years.

But if we end up filling up the roster with ring-chasing role players, I agree that we may have leveraged our future for a shot to make it to the conference finals.

Absolutely agree. The third star is so key.

Kawhi is the ultimate goal. From age to talent to fit. However, I think Kawhi doesn’t want any part of Lebron for some reason. The other issue with him is, is he damaged goods? He will be playing 60 games a season from here on out. And if so where does his degenerative injury leave him in a few years.

Butler is 30, so I imagine he has 3 good seasons left. I’m good with signing him, but a maxed out 30+ year old butler in 2 years with AD isn’t a contender. We’ll have tough competition to sign him from philly, where he can contend for the next 5 years.

Kyrie is interesting with his age, but is his heart really into basketball? Anytime he has led a team they’ve under performed. Guy is just a strange dude. By all accounts he is New York bound.

Which leaves us with Kemba. Who is 30 next season, always a tricky age for a shorter point guards. And is going to be offered the supermarket by Charlotte. If I had to pick I’d rather not sign him. Heck you could even look at D’Lo over him.

I’d even take a look at Malcom Brogdon. Weakening Milwaukee while getting a pretty good third/fourth option.

Tired of hoping lottery picks develop.. I’m 100% all in on this deal.
We have 2 Top 10 Players, Max Cap space & a clean slate.. Let's roll..!!!

Overall, I agree with this. The lottery is a crap shoot. I’m not too worried about those picks being great players.
