    Who do you see is a realistic target as our max FA signing?

    Bleacher report was saying Kemba.

    @NinjaMonkey

    I posted our first-fourth options. Depends on who's interested more than anything. They will pitch all that listen

    A few folks internally are pushing back against signing a third max FA. Are instead suggesting Lakers gun for more depth and shooting, pointing to recent Warriors example as vulnerability in being too top heavy. Some are open but majority now seem to be in favor of a max FA for combined biz/bball value add.

    I want to be excited but no way we didn’t overpay. If this doesn’t work out for some reason we have no assets left to trade. 4 years of good drafting gone. I sure hope we get another star like Kawhi. That will make me forget everything.

    That’s honestly not a bad debate to have as both are valid ways to build a title contending team. My argument for going for 3 max guys would be that LeBron only has probably 1 or 2 great years left and getting that 3rd max guy sets you up to still have 2 stars to build around when he’s done. If you can lure the star now with LeBron and AD, IMO you do it rather than trying to use AD alone to lure one in a few years, the Pelicans had trouble doing that...

    If we spend another dime on KCP, I’m going to throw up.

    Our future is pretty shot now.

    All I know is if Lebron turns AD into Bosh or Love, I’m blowing up the Staples center!

    Consulting project is likely dead, I anticipate I will be moved back to FA related business starting Monday AM.

    I'm happy but somewhat concerned as well. At the very least we have 2 top 5 players. There's still a lot of work to fill out the roster. We just lost 2 excellent perimeter defenders. We have no shooting really.

    Hopefully all of our concerns will be addressed.

    Understandable, but I’d argue that adding a third max might make us so appealing that we’d still be able to fill out the roster with depth and shooting with minimum contracts and the room exception.

    If we get a 3rd max guy is his 20’s like Leonard or Irving then when LeBron is done we will still have a core to build around that’s why that 3rd max is so important imo.

    What’s your definition of “doesn’t work out” though? If we don’t win a title this year or at all in LeBron’s window? I can’t see a scenario this doesn’t work out long term because even if we don’t win now we can lock up AD for 5 years next summer. Even if we don’t win it all we aren’t starting over from scratch because we still have AD to build around post-LeBron. If it doesn’t work out in the next 2 years LeBron can also walk early. Or do you mean not work out as in AD leaves next summer? I really don’t see that happening, where would he go, to the Knicks for less money? AD and LeBron get along, they have wanted to play together, I am never the optimist around here, but I just can’t see this particular pairing not working out unless some catastrophic injuries happen, or the team they are able to put around these 2 guys is somehow pure garbage.

    The only way it doesn’t work out is if AD somehow leaves in free agency.

    Otherwise, no matter what we’re in a better position in both the short term and long term. Worst case we don’t win a title with Lebron and he retires, we still have a top 5 player who will still be under 30 to build around.

    That good drafting got us nowhere. Only GSW had a success with this pattern... and they still needed KD.

    AEG folks, with no bball perspective on this, are suggesting Lakers gun for KD, let him rehab season with LeBron and AD, and then make 2020 run. Maximizes Laker's future biz value. Idea still in very early stages, has not gained any traction within Lakers FO as it still needs to be proposed to them. Mostly AEG guys kicking ideas around and speculating possibilities. No indication from KD's camp there's any interest at this point.
