    AD is a great player, but we gave up too much. If we win a chip it of course doesn't matter, but that isn't guaranteed.

    Great news. I'm sorry to see BI, Hart, and Zo go, but we should find some FA's to replace them with Bron and AD here.

    I understand your fears, but this is not comparable to Nash and Howard. Nash was done, and he was also never as good as LeBron. Howard was coming off back surgery and he was never as good again, plus he was never anywhere near the level of offensive player that AD is. We also don’t have a contract like Kobe got after his achilles injury that didn’t exactly help us in improving the team for those last few years. Not a knock on Kobe at all, but if he wasn’t on the books and roster those last 3 seasons (counting the one he sat out), we would have began our rebuild sooner.

    Yes, that is all this is, he gets more money if he opts out and re-signs next offseason than if he extends as soon as he gets here. Rich Paul put it out there multiple times the last few days that AD wanted the Lakers or bust. He wants to be here long term.

    AD FA is just a money grab, and an out if things go disastrously. But as of now he's committed long term.

    Lakers brass wants Davis to waive bonus but Rich Paul hasn't been looped in entirely yet as deal just closed. That info will come later most likely... possibly even after free agency when deal will technically close

    I absolutely agree it's not the same situation. I most definitely agree it's a better situation, but my point really is that if things don't go well, we could be in a lot of trouble, and while AD might be considering to sign again with us next summer, that's still not in ink, and a lot can happen in a year.

    I'm happy we got him, I really am. But I want to be very careful with my expectations. I think there's a good chance things are going to go well for us. But if they don't, there will be nothing to cushion the fall that that would mean.

    Yep, nothing will be official till after July 1st (June 30th) and we have signed a free agent. The order of operations is what needs to happen first

    Seems that $4MM sacrifice is only worth it if they can get a 3rd top free agent. If they can’t, then AD might as well keep the $4MM.

    I gotta believe AD would waive the kicker if he knew it meant Kawhi would come and join them. And it's not like these guys can't talk to each other.

    We got to keep Kuzma which is awesome and I have one question? So we have KCP bird rights? So after we sign another Max FA we can sign KCP to whatever we want and go over the cap?
