No player has ever been able to carry a team through the playoffs all by himself. But man, when you really think about that '06 roster, it's incredible what Kobe did. The second best player on that team used to periodically inbound the ball to himself and get called for turnovers. The third best player flunked out of the league after leaving the Lakers and last we heard, choked a female parking attendant. And the fourth best player was Kwamay Brown.

    Exactly!

I still don't understand this fan mentality. Some of you may not agree with the cap game, but think of the pool of players willing to take 1yr deals. Now try to find shooters and smashmouth dogs in that batch.

Our FO just painted that narrative of tough-minded playmakers to pacify the fanbase for 1 season till the real plan was executed.... finding a deserving max player to pair next to Bron.

What did that stopgap narrative in, is health...plain and simple. Despite Luke's rotations, lack of playbook, inexperience in coaching Bron...despite the tremendous roster overhaul, the inexperience of our kiddies...despite the mistakes of our FO and their inexperience...despite all of that, I believe we make the playoffs this year if we mostly stayed healthy. I really believe that.

I'm not saying we are legit title contenders, but we most likely make the playoffs and that woukd be with our FO being who they are, our coach being who he is and our team being the memes they are. A largely healthy team would equate to playoffs. Then this summer comes and we construct a legit title contender with that max slot.

And if health isn't a major cog in a team's success, just look to the Finals where a "dynasty" never really had to endure through devastating injuries, like their cav counterparts.... and where load management absolutely matters.

You can stop with the insults and goggles smack any time dude. If BI, Lonzo, Kuzma, Hart and (Garland?) projected to be no more than average in their careers at these young ages there would not be the reports of some NO basketball OPs upset our offer at the deadline wasn't taken, nor Griffin reported high on Ingram and them wanting Lonzo, old man and all, at the deadline, nor now people taken with Garland's future. Your personal inclination to ship them out no qualms is fine, it's your opinion. But that point can be made without calling them all nothing more than "average".

I explained yeah we give up what is needed to get AD but there's still no guarantees and why for some of us it will suck seeing our young talent have their primes and next decade on other teams.

Jrue has not been named to an all star team since being traded to the Pelicans. Sorry. Your argument is not standing up to scrutiny. I'm not even suggesting AD is on Kobe's level. But AD has dragged some pretty poor teams to the playoffs as well...in a time where, unlike Kobe, 41 or 42 wins would not have gotten them in.

Two team race just got narrowed down to us. If you're a team with weaker assets and hesitant to go all in.... you're out of the running

I don't know why Carmelo Anthony's name would come up in this. Sure, NYK probably traded too much to get him, but that's partly because Melo was an unmotivated bum, and because he may have just walked there in free agency anyway. The AD situation is completely different.

he dragged 1 of 2, the 2nd playoff appearance had respectable players with jrue managing to put up all star #s and being a 2way player, ad crushed port that yr with big #s but rondo/jrue were the key players that jacked up mccollum/dame, it wasnt all AD

I disagree. Disgruntled stars NEVER get anywhere near their value most of the time. And i def think those 3 can be part of a contending core.

Out of Memphis, NY, LA and Cleveland, we already know the two teams willing to make a move and only one team had a win-now star on it.

Suns, ATL and Chicago sure look like the odds on favorites in being that 3rd team for an AD trade.

I think butler would respect lebron and not be the cancer he has been on young teams. And yes kawhi is better for sure.

AD is always hurt though. Hes averaged 66 games a season for his career.

    The dream now would be:

    Trade for AD
    Sign Kawhi
    Durant does a cousins

    Whoever
    Kawhi
    LBJ
    Durant (returning)
    AD

    Kuz/vets off the bench.

Going to put the pipe down now.

It would help when you have all the attention off of you and you don't have to carry your team the entire season right?

That sounds like glossing over how injury prone he is. Sure it might alleviate some stress on ligaments I suppose.
