Well the advantage of giving up everything is that we gain cap room in return...so if we cleared the cupboard...we'd be basically at the max for a 3rd star aka Kyrie or Kawhi.

I think Lakers are probably thinking they can land Kawhi or Kyrie if they land AD first...and giving up everything gets a 3rd max guy as close to their max as possible...

Is that right @vasashi17 or does the timing no longer matter as we're seeing with the ATL/BKN trade?

I'm just not seeing why NOLA would take all of these players who all play similar positions...Kuzma seems redundant...ditto with Wagner...

I can see them taking BI, Hart, 4th, 6th (via lonzo)

If we end up with LeBron and AD, but give up Kuz, Zo, Bingram and #4 in the process, are some people worried we wouldn't be able to attract quality FAs and build a team around them? Please. Let that be our big problem going into the rest of the summer.

Seriously though, the Spurs got a Tier 3 star in DeRozan, a scrub called Poeltl, and a 1st pick in the high teens for Kawhi. And they even gave Danny Green to the Raptors.

The Cavs got prime Kevin Love for Wiggins and a bust in Bennett.

Ingram + #4 is worth more than f***ing Derozan or Wiggins. We're about to get fleeced. f*** that.

To add to this, Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams and a 2018 first-round pick got Houston Chris Paul.

Paul George went to OKC for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.

Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the #7 pick got Jimmy Butler to Minny. Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round draft pick got Butler to Philly.

Kyrie Irving went to Boston for an Isaiah Thomas that failed his physical, to Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, Boston’s 2018 first-round pick, and Miami’s 2020 second-round pick.

Try telling me with a straight face that there is no Laker tax, come on.

    I say no, 100%, Ball/Kuzma/Ingram/Wagner/Bonga/4.

Why not throw in Hart for good measure and 3 picks.

Things may be getting interesting folks.

Also, stating the obvious, but still worth knowing.

We got cap flexibility in spades, but the timing is everything if we want a 3 star alignment.

We have 30.5m in space with just Bron & AD. We need 32.7m minimum for a 3rd star's true max, so we're already short. Plus no kiddies are spared.

But if we wait for a AD trade to be officially official in August you can trade just Zo/BI/signed 4th round pick and have enough aggregated salary to trade for AD. You need 21.6m in outgoing salary and that package would be an aggregated 23.1m. So we spared every player on our books except Zo/BI/4th.

So we can agree to terms now on a AD trade and it be a "done deal", but have it officially announced in August. Till then, we can use our 32m in capspace and our room exception to fill the roster with a max guy (technically would have to sacrifice 700k from his true max) and/or role players.

Knox, Ntilikina, DSJ, (Robinson) and the # 3

    Or

Ingram, Lonzo (or Kuz or #6 via PHO), Hart, Wagner, #4

You really don’t have to think about that Griff. The Knicks package is franchise suicide, none of those pieces have any star potential.

No way Chicago deals Dunn, #7, and a future first for Lonzo. Unless Dunn is way worse than I thought somehow.

Woj was asked on SportsCenter just now ‘when it comes to assets and motivation to get this done, the leader in the clubhouse is who?’, and he answered ‘the Lakers’. Buuuuut, added Griffin doesn’t see a pathway to 1 on 1 deal, need a 3rd team involved to go get more assets from for Lonzo, etc. I think it’s kind of absurd personally, you’re rebuilding, our package of like Zo, Ingram and the #4 is huge for rebuilding. If I’m the Lakers I try my best to make this work, but at a certain point it’s kind of a ridiculous ask, and I move on.
