Good points, forgot about those earlier years when he was a tenacious defender. He has played ole defense since at least his Kings days IIRC.

Hell Knox is apparently Sprewell, DSJ is the new John Starks, and Robinson is Ewing reincarnated according to some folks

I don't like that assertion frim irwin, we really caving into pelicans because butler? come on man...if this was klay or kawahi id agree but butler aint at that lvl imo, one of the 3 youth is staying (my preference is obviously bi) end of story, rest is open for negotiations like future multiple 1st n even a pick swap but wr absolutely need one of zo, bi or kuz to stay

I think LeBron, AD, and Butler is enough to get to the Finals if KD leaves GS. It’s also a fine core to build around age-wise because one can pick up for the other as they age (going into next season it would be LeBron 34, Butler 30, AD 26). Butler is also a fine trade asset if you want to start over with AD as your main guy in a couple years.

If I’m them, I’d be asking the Lakers advice on drafting anyways. We’d clearly draft someone better than they would, so I do see that as a big deal here.

But there is something of value to the perception of making that pick yourself for whatever reason.

hmm...any chance that Brooklyn tries to offer Jarrett Allen, Caris Levert, Taurean Prince, and 27th pick for AD?

Is that offer better than ours?

I don't think it is...but Taurean Prince is pretty good and might be a better trade piece than the 17th pick...then again Nets gave up TWO first round picks to dump Crabbe and got Taurean Prince and cap space...(of course to get two max slots they have to renounce DLO)

Same as every other team with 3 all-stars. Draft some 2nd rounders, sign every ring chaser you can to the vet minimum, use that exception on a quality shooter or bringing back McGee. It won’t be an amazing roster 1-15, but you can still put 7-9 really good players out there.

I'm honestly not sure if you're serious. No. That is not a better offer than ours. Ingram and the 4th trumps that.

Why the hell would SGA be off the table in an AD trade? That’d be like us saying Kuz is untouchable, that’s just stupid. Jerry West isn’t stupid. Weird report.

Right. Like every report wants us to give up everything while other teams hold on to the one player they have that could be good.

I’m willing to make a fair trade that includes some of our better assets but the media spin on this is insane.

I don’t think so... if they got DLO to do a sign and trade then yes.

That said, the media has changed its tune quite a bit on this. I basically think the spin is changing so the Pelicans can make the deal and try to save face by showing what we already know, that we have the best offer on the table.

For roster fillers, you offer the exception to a shooter and pray one takes it. Grab a big, a couple low risk/ high rewarders, a bruiser, and as many ring chasers as you can find.

Shooters: Danny Green, Redick, then Bojan are my first three calls after we lock a star FA. Not likely, but worth the attempt.

If you whiff there, I offer the money to Brook, followed by Wesley Matthews.

Next the veteran train: Rose, Crawford, VC, Carroll, A. Johnson, T. Gibson, Nene, Robin Lopez, Thabo, Dudley.

Cheaper shooters/floor spreaders: Seth Curry, Cook, Kaminsky, Fredette

Klutch city: Joseph, Morris brothers, Lyles, Koufos.

(No where else to put him, so he gets his own category) If money dries up for teams and he's still out there for cheap: Vonleh.

I want McGee back if he'll return for what we can pay him. We have bigger needs than to pay him market value. Hopefully off court opportunities he's enjoyed this year can off set that.
