Here's hoping David Griffin isn't an idiot too.

Oh also...Zion has until May 29th to pull out of the draft. LOL

It wasn't their previous FO who blocked the trade. It was the owners...

My first choice for a user name was kobehasalittleweenie, but I was pretty sure the mods would bounce that. So, racking my brain for inspiration, I went to take a dump, and there on the counter were some pill bottles.

Aw, 20% of the Pelicans' fan base showed up to chat with us. That's sweet.

Smells like the leverage game to me, and it's smart. David Griffin is in charge over there now, and he knows what he's doing. He wouldn't have taken this gig unless ownership empowered him to completely run the show.

If anyone remembers DG in his time as an analyst, he was one of the larger Ingram Stans I saw. The guy absolutely loves BI's game. Assuming medicals all check out, he has to be the top available asset that's realistically acquirable in DG's eyes. A lot of the luster is off Taytum, and Boston probably won't cash in all their best chips for an AD rental anyway with Kyrie bolting.

Pels are going to play all their games through the media to squeeze out the best offer. It's good biz. Maybe they think they can pry both BI & Ball from us in addition to #4. I hope we don't do that, but those are the pieces I'm shooting for if I'm in their spot. Given our FO's crap show of incompetence lately, it's hard to be confident they won't sell the farm on an AD deal.

I want to believe that they didn't just hire Griffin to then neuter his control/moves. And I also believe that Griffin will be smart about the AD situation.

So who's in the running: Lakers, Knicks and Boston.

Boston might as well be out of the running but of course the media will continue running with the god players they have and their basket full of picks. Kyrie might as well be gone already, Hayward is still a shell of his former self, those picks are late first rounders in a weak draft and Tatum is their last true building piece.

Knicks, well they do have an interesting case here. Theres the POTENTIAL of KD and or Kyrie joining AD, New York is a huge market and AD has stated before he's okay with staying there. But NOP already has Zion, they didn't need to trade AD to get Zion. Knicks have the 3rd pick in a 3 player draft but then what else. Mitchell Robinson is a very nice prospect (I like the pairing with Zion if I'm being honest), Knox seems a little redundant to Zion and Frank Ntilikina is as broken as Lonzo. DSJ not bad, but is he really better than any of the Lakers' offering?

Lakers, we're still able to put together the best package of players (issue is how many or all are included). The 4th pick helps a ton, instead of the 11th-14th pick being a throw in, the pick can be one of the main pieces. Ball is still a decent project and has a full summer to get back into gear, plus all signs are pointing to him distancing himself from his dad and BBB. Ingram's health scare seems less scary than initial thoughts and Griffin really likes him. Kuz, Hart and any other picks? Gun to head, I'd offer them all. I'm not confident in the FO to successfully capitalize on the young core post Lebron so give me all the star power right now, that'll balance out the incompetency.

I honestly feel the Pels have a Zion problem. Quickest way to fix it is make him comfortable.

    Suns: Ball in, 6th/JoshJax out
Boston: Jrue in, Ky/14th pick out
    Knicks: 4th/6th/Ky/14th in, 3rd out
Pels: 3rd(Barrett)/JoshJax/BI/Hart/Moe/2 future LA 1sts in, AD/Jrue out
Lakers: AD in, Zo/BI/Hart/Moe/4th/2 future 1sts out

We keep Kuz through all of it (cuz he's the Hand of the Kang)...

...and add AD with still a max slot open in free agency.

The cbags save face with Ky threatening to leave anyways. Plus Jrue/Smart/Horford still make a formidable defensive team.

The Knicks still have the extra cap to absorb two top picks (4th/6th) and still offer full maxes to KD and eventually Ky (via opt in & trade to retain his bird rights).

The Suns address their PG problem and get rid of their JoshJax problem.

Pels get their Duke trinity in BI/RJ/Zion and can help put Zion more at peace in accepting his new home.

Hahaha...but they call Kob the Mamba for a reason. MambaMentality is thinking a"head"

Why is this a 3 player draft all of a sudden? It's kind of silly. I didn't hear any of that until the Lakers landed at number 4.

Agreed. If anything, I kept hearing it was a 2-player draft. Zion at 1, Ja at 2, then who knows...

I agree, absolutely feels like a leverage play and sudden since we got the 4th, which is why I started my post with “for what it’s worth”, because I did not take it at face value. I think this is a 1 player superstar draft, and then after that you’ve got a group of players that can all go either way. I think Ja Morant, RJ Barrett, Darius Garland, Jarrett Culver, De’Andre Hunter, Coby White, Jaxson Hayes, Romeo Langford, Nassir Little, Cam Reddish, and maybe even Bol Bol all are in that second group, with maybe Morant being a little ahead of that pack.

considering the embarrasement Rams displayed during the SB, maybe it would've been better had Saints made it.

Man, I really don't want us to go through another round of seemingly begging the Hornets to do a trade. We've given the ugly kid too much attention and its gone to their head. Time to move on to other targets.
