    Exactly. That was my first thought when I read it. It's PR. He doesn't want to be seen as the spoiled athlete, or in any way culpable in this whole mess.

    And that doesn't mean he'd re-up with the gangrene if NO sent him there either.

    Those words mean little to me

    I see this just being PC. He could always be traded and sign somewhere else, but if it’s his goal to get to LA, it’s wise to just not even mention the Lakers seeing as there is a witch hunt for us right now.

    When it’s time to open up trade talk again the Lakers will be at the top. No point in causing havoc now when nothing can be done

    I view that as him doing the team a solid. They can get more from him if it's not a 1 year rental. And he doesn't care if next team gets robbed. He's not staying.
