he toyed around with demps like nothing to get him to keep AD through the summer and now he's gone

 

I disagree, their ownership will still be salty with our organization....I think they did use Demps as the scape goat for toying with Maginka on negotations...their ownership will still not deal with us in good faith

 

Khmrp: And I disagree...the leaks happened and Magic made it obvious it was bad faith negotiations.

Their bball ops, not Benson, is in charge of all that s***. Unless you think Benson also hijacked their Twitter and was tweeting out those trolling emojis as well.

 

I dont think Benson is the one who leaked but I do feel Benson has same ill will towards all things LA, obviously the Saints are higher on his priority list and I feel he bought Pelicans as a favor to the city of New Orleans. Its just my own opinion, and I do hope new GM is more professional and not a Popovich sock puppet though and will deal with us more rationally.

 

agree with khmrp on this one: seemed to me that demps was in the same position as in the cp trade: he was negotiating, and his bosses were jerking him around. honestly, we wanted demps to stay. he's tried to trade us two superstars in their prime.

i think it's a neutral move, in that our problem is that their ownership/higher-ups don't want to deal with us. we just gotta hope the new gm won't feel that way. i'm sure woj is pushing them to hire whoever's the assistant in boston right now...

Agree it's clutch--not sure if they overplayed their hand, though. If NO had taken our offer, they'd be in better shape than they will be now. Davis saw a chance to get what he wanted and the pels just had to not shout themselves in the foot.

Edit: had clutch not intervened, we'd still be in the same spot, though. Boston's mad. As is the media. Because the transition for Davis to Boston was going to be very smooth without the trade demand.

So Demps gets fired for making the Lakers/Klutch look bad and for taking this into the summer per Ainge's requests...

If ownership really wanted this, then why not fire him in the summer after he pretty much "mission accomplished" their requests and made the big bad Lakers and Klutch look bad?

AD was taken out promtoional material and his good guy image was taken through the ringer...And now you got an angry AD who doesn't give a f*** about the Pels...



You think Benson, who once said this:

It only took them 7-8 years to finally get serious about getting real talent around Anthony Davis. They are going to accomplish this by trading Anthony Davis for said talent.

Pelicans logic.

 

i really do think pels ownership were the ones behind AD staying put

demps obviously had a role too but something tells me he would've been fine making the deal with LA before he was overruled by benson and loomis, probably because of the outcome of the saints-rams game

so thanks to that missed call, the lakers don't have AD
