    Pelicans could have just pulled a Buss, and said we aren't trading you now, you are under contract.

    We'll make that decision when the time comes, and go about their business trying to convince him otherwise. They don't have strong enough leadership to do that, so what you are seeing is pettiness.

    HOWEVER, what you have seen from the day Magic took over is meddling, tampering, back channeling, hiring a super agent as a GM, etc.
    The league doesn't like it, and doesn't want to participate with people who think they are above the rules unless they benefit greatly.

    The Lakers created their own mess. Previously our leadership was inept. (our fault)
    Then we decided to play outside the rules. (our fault)
    Then we locked arms with Lebron and his agent lackey to take another angle (our fault)

    Can we really be upset that other teams don't want to deal with us? Some shady s*** going on behind that gleaming smile from Tragic Johnson and Rob Pelinka.
    Praise God all you want and tell Bible stories, but they will know you by your fruit.

    I have to be honest, this whole fiasco has really soured me on the NBA and being a Lakers fan. The Pelicans KNEW there was nothing the Lakers could offer to get AD. They kept moving the goalposts back. "Wait. You'll give us Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Zubac, two firsts and take on Hill's contract? You will actually do that?!?! OK. 4 firsts instead of two!"

    The worst part is all the media and other teams laughing at us and telling the Pelicans to keep it up even though the deal would CLEARLY be ripping us a new butt hole. And everyone KNOWS the offseason will come and they will end up with a s*** package of mid-first round picks and maybe Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart. They aren't getting Jayson Tatum. Ainge is standing behind Dell Demps right now giving him a nice shoulder rub telling him it's going to be OK. I'll take care of you....then in a couple months that shoulder rub will start to push him down harder and harder until he's bent over a couch. Demps won't know what's going on until it's too late and he hears the pants hit the floor.

    Who started the leaking though? A part of me understands why the Pelicans got upset about the trade demand becoming public. That is on us completely.

    Yeah. I actually thought twice about posting it, but I'm so pissed right now, and the Lakers are getting railroaded so hard by just about EVERYONE, I wanted to paint a picture of how grotesque this whole situation is.

    Yeah. It’s clear most of the leaks are through the Pelicans. They’ve been clearly trolling us through the media and actively trying to undermine our position.

    Completely agree. It’s definitely soured me on the whole league and how it’s covered.

    The pearl clutching and pretending that we are doing something that isn’t done all the time is just over the top and ridiculous

    I honestly had no idea how favored Ainge is in the media until now. I gotta guess he gives those guys tons of access.

    Are we sure about that? I went back through the PG thread last night and our perspective was entirely different.

    In fact, at the very beginning stages, you and I were one of the only people on this site screaming to trade for him again.

    I changed my position in May; however, once it became apparent that Paul wanted out, we were back screaming to trade him again.

    It is funny as time goes on the narrative changes.
