And people wonder why we want him shooting closer to the basket.
Maybe if we had an offensive system, or ran basic PnRs, he wouldn’t rely so much on long J’s.

you're contributing his high fg% w/o discerning the his fg% for dunks/layups, those perimeter stats and what we see is legit he is and has been terrible from the PERIMETER

Shooting over 50 percent is still hitting over 50 percent of your shots though. He's been off in these last two games sure, but he was gutting it out in New York and missed the next game. I don't think he was at 100 percent last night. His jumper was actually looking pretty good to me since that first Rockets game. He still shot over 51 percent in those 10 games, while going 4 for 18 from three.

We definitely gotta run some actual plays to get him the ball inside, or at least more pick and rolls that give him momentum towards the rim.

But man I gotta say, his perimeter shooting was a HUGE part of our success in the bubble. People make the Bosh/Love comparisons, but there is a reason for that. A big that can space the floor really optimizes Lebron’s game.

I don’t want to see AD relegated to a spot up shooter especially considering he’s shooting like crap, but I also don’t know if I want him to abandon the perimeter shot altogether.

Based on his bubble success, I have to believe he’s slumping more than usual right now and will eventually bounce back in the positive direction. If he could just be low-mid 30% from 3 it would be great for us.

yeah, he's shot poorly for a pretty long time now, but people don't generally just forget how to shoot. i feel like at least some of it is we don't make efforts to get him in advantageous positions. part of that is personnel-related, too.

i don't know. i'm a big AD supporter, but both his and lebron's inconsistent effort level has been a season-long issue. i really don't want to hear from either of them until they convince me on the floor that they want to do the small things to win and not just the big things. it's like they forgot how they won a ring. it wasn't by expecting the role players to bring all the focus and fire. it was by modeling it in such a way that people didn't have an option not to get on board.

a mid range n 3s are shot, dunks and layups are not...if you cant differentiate the 2 then one can assume dj n howard are good shooters since they "shoot" 60% or better from the field

If you think I don't get the difference then it a pointless conversation. I watch the games, I don't pour over the stats. His jumper was looking pretty good minus the 3,'s for that stretch to me.

AD has shot like crap from 3 since the beginning of last season. When does something become a trend and not an outlier?

    Top 5 talent.

    Not top 20 in impact.

I know that's hard to read, but inconvenient truth.

You nailed it abeer3: it’s the inconsistent effort of our top 2 players that has been our biggest issue and the fact that the after game talk has been extremely hollow. Show us by your play!

Yikes. Pass him the torch now ... it's time. Can lead by getting teammates into physical confrontations with him in bench area. Byron would love it.

Worst 3% in history so far this year with at least 2 attempts, midrange and jump shot worst in NBA with number of attempts, shooting a career worst free throw percentage but best field goal percentage within 5 ft. of any player in the NBA averaging at least 6 attempts per game….but yeah, keeping chucking because that working out so well.

it is early, but the downward trend in his perimeter shooting is pretty long now. i still think a good bit of has to do with the kinds of shots he's taking, some of which is his fault, some is coaching, some is surrounding personnel. as i've said several times, we haven't really built a team or system that maximizes AD's talents on offense.

That's because despite all Lebron's talk about passing the torch or whatever, Lebron teams always end up playing the Lebron system. It's the only system he can play in.
